Went by the Ford dealership to pickup some parts and in the showroom was a 2007 Ford GT  with the $50,000 Heritage Pachage [Light Blue/Orange trimmed in Black tape with the White racing # dots in vinyl, special wheels like the original GT40 of the 60's]. $244,975 total  before taxes tags, dealer prep, etc.The front trunk, passanger door and rear engine compartment had decal seals on them that said "DO NOT OPEN" and ALL the paperwork for the construction was taped to the dash and all over the car exactly as it left the factory in a special insured private hauler. It had not even been washed after being there 10 days.
I asked the salesman I knew and had bought cars from if I could open the drivers door and look inside and he said that he had been instructed to ask for proof financial well being before allowing anyone to even open the door, to just look thru the glass. If you can't but it, you can't see inside, in a sense! I guess if I had cut one near it I would have been arrested!
I took my $18 part and politely got the heck out of there!

Here's a summary from Automotive Magazine.........The Z06 is the most usable of our three and also the least distinctive. It is also an incredible performance bargain, even faster and cheaper than the Viper. In performance, price, and driving pleasure, it blows the current Porsche 911 Carrera S away, although the 911 has nicer steering, a slicker gearshift, and a much better interior. Blackwell would take the Z06: "If I could afford a car like this, I would want to drive it a lot. It's such a stealth car, you could stay under the radar with it, it's easy to drive day to day, but it's nearly as quick as the GT."

Me? I love all three. Were money no object, it would be the GT. But for most of us, money is an object. Someone like me could afford a Z06 as a toy for track days and for blasting through the countryside. It says a lot, we feel, that we can now compare Chevys, Dodges, and Fords with European exotics. Now all the American industry has to do is up the ante with its more affordable cars.

Right! :( Muffler and aero wings underneath are in the way of a trailer hitch, color doesn't match the boat and I could have bought a new Astro every year for 17 years at that price and still been ahead. Besides, I know my Mastercraft will follow the Astro at 90mph+ in 1990  , but I don't think it would hold up behind a Ford GT at 200mph, but I can always dream!

It might not hold up but you would look real good.

Mag, I agree with you on the Z06.

That GT is one sweet car. They usually keep them in the Porsche dealer showroom here nose to nose with the Carrera GT. That is cool looking.
