2 weeks ago on kingsley lake near starke, fl, a jet skiier was hot dogging, lost control, fell into water, got tangled in submerged vegetation, and drowned. why people with limited skills on these watercraft feel they always must push the envelope is beyond me.

Accident in Kentucky within the last week or so. A boat carrying 5 people slammed into an island wall at 3:00am. 2 were killed, 2 were injured fairly badly. Only the driver was treated and released. I believe one of the people killed was the drivers wife. Terrible to here of stuff like that, but makes you want to be more careful.

Boat Capsizes On Lake Elsinore, Killing 1
(CBS) LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. One male apparently drowned Saturday when a boat capsized on Lake Elsinore, authorities said.

About three people were boating on the lake around 12:45 p.m. Saturday when the boat capsized and they fell into the water, said Cpl. Charles Mungle of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Responding police found two men on the shoreline, with paramedics administering first aid. Another person was missing.

Several passersby found the third man submerged in 7 feet of water.

Patrick Ballard, 23, was taken to Inland Valley Regoinal Medical Center in Wildomar, where he was declared dead at 2:07 p.m.

Apparently the three men had been fishing near Grand Avenue when one of the men found a six-foot sailboat on the property next to them, Lujan said. They decided to use the sailboat and paddled out onto the lake to fish, when a passing vessel created a wake that caused the boat to capsize.

Ballard's death was being investigated as accidental. He didn't know how to swim.
