I recently had my MC dealer install a New Dimension tower on a 98 ProStar 205. It seemed like they had done a really good job at a good price. Last weekend the front left attachment to the boat came loose a little. I retightened it and called Wayne of New Dimensions to ask if this would be a problem. He indicated that the backing plates should have been fiberglassed in, but the dealer did not do this. How important is it to have the brackets fiberglassed in? Wayne is sending me what I need to do this, but I'm curious as to whether this is an extra precaution or necessary.

I'd say extra precaution, unless the FLAT backing plate is secured against a CURVED surface, then it would need a filler behind it for sure to distribute the load.
My 96, same hull I believe, the rear plates sat nice and flat against the side of the deck.
I used loctite on the bolts when mounting mine. ANother guy on here said he used antiseize. I figured I don't want them to ever come loose.

Thrall is right re: the curved surface, although on a 98 PS205 the front leg plate would be up against a flat surface. For the rear legs I bent the plates on mine to follow the contour. Generally glassing the plates in is optional. I didn't glass mine in, and it's been fine. Sounds like that one bolt came loose, and that would not be fault of the plate. Make sure there's a lock washer or a locking nut on each tower bolt.
