I was thinking of bringing down my camera but it burns to 8mm...

I switched to minidv and have been pretty happy. The new ones have something called CCD, which supposedly makes for some good shots. So far, I've been happy with what I've shot.

8mm/Hi8 typically looks pretty good, probalby better in low light situations. Some of my old 8mm stuff converted to DVD nicely (although it required a pass through my mini dv to get there.

Just looked at the hard drive Camcorder @ Bestbuy tonight. Not as expensive as I would have expected. Camera about 7 bills.

I'll stick with my MiniDV for about half the price.

I honestly have used my video camera maybe 5 times, and have lent it to other family members about the same amount. There is no way to justify a new one. I'll stick with the digital 8mm tapes, and a good digital camera.

I actually find myself taking more and more "video clips" on my digital camera than actual video with the video camera.
