Texans, is that the Brazos or the Pedernales? My guess is the Brazos after inspecting some of the pics. Also, the DVD looks like it will be released in late October, and somebody's got a birthday coming up.

First person to get it be sure to put up a little review. Somebody else suggested to me that it could be the San Marcos river. One way or the other, I want to find this "Secret Garden." :steering:

I can't tell by the trailer
I thought pedernales at first, but then saw some kinda muddy grassy areas near one curve
I bet we can tell by the full length version.

If this had come out last weekend I would have been there. I'm suppose to help clean up some jeep trails in Gilmer this weekend. I think I read on the website this was on the Brazos. Looks cool. yahoo post #100

That what I was thinking, It shouldnít be to hard to locate, after all the producers were raised there. I think itís the Brazos cuz awhile back it made the top 10 list in water ski mag. Canít wait to see the movie. :)

... or east 'till you hit Louisiana.

If you scroll through the gallery on that site, you see one shot from above where the thing almost does a u-turn. I may have to get on the Texas Dept. of Wildlife site and look at some maps.

From my experience, you don't get cliffs like the ones in those pictures too far from the center of Texas.

I can't tell if your saying the cliffs aren't near the Brazos, but the Brazos has Cliff's if you go to the area near Cleburn. If you haven't been to The Brazos and can go during the week it is one of the best spots in Texas. The weekends of course get crowded. If you decide to go sometime let me know. But don't tell anyone it's secret.

George, I guess what I was thinking was that I don't usually see to many cliffs like that anywhere too far from Austin. Never been to the Brazos. The Pedernales is smooth like that, too, even on the weekends. I'd love to try the Brazos sometime.

Howdy Folks. (fair time in Tex)
Last clip looks like the hwy 74 bridge west of cleburne to me.
quite a few miles of ski-able river north of lake Whitney. bluffs, beaches, wide, deep and also narrow and shallow in places. Yer right about the weekends being crowded. dangerous too. We stopped going out there about 10 yrs ago after one particular fatality.

We watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I think there is ample time given to the various watersports featured. With some sleuthing this morning, I'm happy to say I know where it is. I'm a little slow, but I get there.

Great movie, but I'm glad there's no movie about my spot.

I just watched it myself last night!! I am sooo ready for warm weather. I thought the action shots were awsome but there was a little too much about the river for me. More skiing in part two please!! ;) Make sure you watch the wipeout king part in the special features. Ted Freeman beaches his sky ski on the bank!!! Pretty SWEET!!

When is the best time to the brazos river?

east tx skier
02-11-2005, 01:18 PM
For smoothness, as with most lakes and rivers, I'd wager 6 a.m., Tuesday morning, middle of January. From what I've heard with regard to summer conditions, mid-week is best as things get a little congested on the weekends.
