looking for a web cam for my lakehouse. Would be nice to check in on the MC once in a while when I'm not there Can dedicate a laptop if needed, but was wondering if/what other options are out there. As always cheap is best. Thanks for any help!

Good luck!

I could spend hours talking about my search, which has not been successful. Linksys {and others} have cameras with built in browser to broadcast to wireless networks. Assuming constant IP address, piece o cake... Except lot of people can't get the cameras to work, and if they do work, can't handle much less then bright sunlight. I'm heading toward decent camera, with a video cature card http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_impactvcb.html.

Cheap, not possible, affordable, may work, expensive works great.

I don't know much about this but this is how this guy does the live beach webcam in Playa.

The camera functions 7 days a week during daylight hours and connects to a one-megabit aDSL uplink via an 802.11g wireless connection.
Looks like he uses a very nice camera too.

This linksys option might work, I do have high speed wireless at the cottage, and it's very brite there. How does the constant IP address work? Thanks for the reply's!!

few more dollars for constant web address. Came across another option last week. Driving to mom's to fix her #@$^ not broken printer and passed the spy shack {web address at home right now}. They bailed me out of a previous problem, so... stopped again. They have a capture card that appears to have the ability to broadcast web address to you. Best part, very inexpensive!
