The countdown begins. The boat ran great all weekend, so my wife is feeling a little better about bringing it to Dale Hollow. Worked on the trailer lights last night. I now have running and brake lights, no turn signals yet.
Any one else heading to the Dale Hollow area at the end of June?

UNfortunately I be there the last week-end in July. You will love it there if you haven't ever been there. We always hang out at the East end of the lake by Sunset Dock. :wavey:

I am heading up there this Friday. My countdown is only 2 days counting today! There will be 18 of us staying at Willow Grove. Anyone else going to be there this weekend? I will be in the Red 197 with Tower in my avatar.

We're launching from Sulpher Creek. Did this trip 2 years ago and enjoyed it more that a Royal Carribean cruise.

You have to eat at mikes landing at Sulphur Creek. It is great. That end of the lake is good but always a little busy. Next time check out the east end. Like Mag is talking about. Sunset, Eastport it is alot less crowded

7 days and counting for me!! We have a houseboat rented from Eastport. Was a little concerned about being so far out, but glad to hear there is good skiing! We usually go to Cumberland. Looking forward to something different. Haven't been to DH much since I was a kid. :D

A slalom course on Dale Hallow?? That would be incredible. Please let me know if I'll be able to find one...

My wife and I just got back from Dale Hollow. We has the lake to ourselves except for a few fishermen.

I'll be heading back June 20-25 for the TNfly-in. Some of the best hydrofoilers from all over the US come together to ride, we rent houseboats from Somerset Marina.

There's usually around 100 people that attend each year. You'll find the houseboats tied together around the corner from somerset marina in Eagles creek. If your curious about hydrofoiling come back and check it out or watch the show on Sat. The rangers block the traffic in the no wake zone in front of somerset marina on Sat and we put on a ski show.

About 6 years ago we stayed at Sulphur Creek and if I remember correctly there was a 4 ball course tucked back on the west side between the resort and the main body of water. Don't remember exactly where. Sorry. I was hoping there was one close to Eastport or that end of the lake.

Dale Hollow is my favorite. We have been going there since 1992...stopped going to Lake Cumberland. There is a very nice slalom course at Fanny's Creek. The nearest dock is Wisdom Dock. It is in the Kentucky part of the lake all the way in the back of the cove. :headbang:

You will love Eastport. That is where my wife and I go when we go to the lake. It is wonderfull. Enjoy the skiing. You can eat at the resturant at Sunset marina. It is about a 10-15 min ride up the lake. Moogies is also right behind Sunset.

Thanks for the heads up. Last night on houseboat is eat out night....no mess to clean up while trying to pack up. When I was a kid my family always went to Sulphur Creek and rented cabins. I've only been to DH twice in the last 11 years or so since I've been married. We have a group that usually rents from State Dock or Jamestown @ Cumberland. Decided to do something differnet this year.

Yeah, Sulphur Creek and Mikes Landing is right out of Burkesville. By the looks of the map it is a forever long drive.

FHMan1905
06-05-2006, 11:25 PM
i think it would be shorter just to drive over land rather than the lake....i need to find a map to look at it...if we are just screwing around one day might make that run on saturday or something

I think it is shorter by land. I believe you pass by the entrance to state park on the way to sulphur creek. Depends on if you are up for a nice boat ride or not. I don't think its too far by water though.

The State dock is less than 15 min from Mikes if I'm understanding you right. Sulphur creek/Mikes has live web cams now, when we were there I tried to call work and have them look but could get a signal to call.

Here's the link but I warn you it's not for the weak. http://www.sulphurcreek.com/webcam2.html

Here is a good picture of my 197 taken at Dale Hollow last weekend. There was NO ONE on the lake. The conditions were perfect. We had a pop up shower or two but nothing serious. The water temperature was great.

If you are going to be near Burkesville that weekend before the fourth, you may want to venture ove rot Grider Hill on Cumberland. There will be a party going on like no other at the 76 Falls. In that cove of the falls there will be 30 or so house boats tied up around the outer edge of the cove. At around noon the runabouts come in and tie up two deep. They make a big u which people cruise around. There are lots of views and pretty good party. It is an experience on the water. Grider is not to far from Dale Hollow. just fyi
