First, here's the picture:

Brief story:
I took this picture in 1979. I was 16 at the time and he played at the Memorial Building in Santa Rosa. I've had the picture in an album for the last 27 years

On Sunday, after working on the drywall in the basement all morning, the wife and I head down to the local for some food and cocktails. Somebody mentions that Sammy is there (he has a home nearby and does stop in sometimes). I remember the picture, drive home real quick and get it, bring it back and have him sign it for me...27 years after it was taken...

He looks at it for about one second and says "Wow, red jumpsuit...must be from '79" 8p

I'm sending it to my sister who is a HUGE Sammy fan.

Sammy RULES!!! Great story Funf! :D From what I can see, that looks like he is playing a Gibson Explorer..... there is no top horn on the guitar, and the strap is hooked behind the neck. :twocents:

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I believe it is a Gibson, but I don't know guitars that well, so I don't know the model. If I remember correctly, this show was actually billed as "Ronnie Montrose with Sammy Hagar"...

:headbang: Sammy is awsome. I have seen him 3 times. Twice with VH and once by himself in a club with only about 1500 people. Puts on a great show.

The guy does seem to have lots of energy...I did notice that he's much shorter than I would have guessed...probably about 5'-7", maybe less

I certainly hope UMP's first ablum has a picture of him like that, so I can have it autograpficated for my collection. Will need it to go with the Beach Boys, JJW, Johnny Cash, Bee Gees, Steppinwolf, BTO, ZZTop, ABBA, etc., 33 1/3 and 8 tracks.

Back in the early 70's, I was lucky enough to get to see most of the orignal members of the Allman Bros. Band at a practice session over on Jekyll Island. They were here for a long weekend, we found out about it, went over to see if the rumor was true, and low & behold, met all of them in front of the house they had rented. They invited us to come watch them that night. It was just me and 4 other people. Sat right in front of the stage for about 5 hours listening to every song that I knew & loved! The beauty was they played each one over & over till they felt they had it right! How cool was that?! After they finished playing, we sat around for about an hour, just BS'ing and drink beer! I can only now apprecaite just how talented they really are! Now, Chuck Level is playing for the Rolling Stones! He's come a long way!

I love Sammy!
He supplied one of my favorite ways to say "hit it"!

Just tell the boat driver, "It's 8:05"!

nothing like when you yell "8:05" and people in the boat look clueless and say what, You just smile and say, "it's time to rock!"

The only thing cooler, is when you say that in public, and some one replies "Its time to ROCK" now that rules!!!! :D
