View Full Version : Boat is listed.

The boat is listed in Marketplace.
Reasons why:
The lake has become extremely over crowded to the point of being dangerous and is rapidly being overdeveloped with condos, townhomes and slips. There are also very large boats that should in no way be out there, I'm talking 23-27 footers on a 800 acre lake. These boats usually run on lake Michigan which is very close and these big shots come over here showing off on the lake. Then to top it off, one resort now rents jetskis to idiots who don't have a clue besides the jetskis that launch. We were almost hit twice by jetskis last season!
Whenever we get out there it is too rough to ski and we do not have another lake within a reasonable distance to travel to.
I am also still struggling with a shoulder issue and am trying to avoid surgery.
We'll see how it goes for a year or so and if I buy another boat, it will be a newer 197.
So if someone stills wants to ask me (why?) there ya' go.
Regards,
stevo

this is the exact reason why if I ever own a boat, it will be when I live on a private lake..

jet ski's are for people that can't afford cool boats.. just as sport bikes are for people that can't afford fast cars :D

Though, even on the private lake i go to with my buddy, the jet skiiers are all over the place jumpin rollers left behind by MC's, but they don't follow too close.

It is a sad day and a really sad story that's happening all over. If it weren't for my salty haven (it scares just enough of the others away), I wouldn't have a boat for the reasons you listed.

Too bad Stevo but i can understand why.Same problem here on our even smaller lake.No condos here but PWC and camping ground with a small marina are a nightmare for us as lakefront residents.
The lake is just too small for so much boats.
Gonna have to dig my own...
Hope you get that 197 of your dreams in a couples of years... :friday:

Steve, perhaps you should go remind Bob he is killing his own lake. I am sure there are alot of people that feel like you do. And some probably do exactly what makes things get worse, they find it too rough and buy bigger.
Good luck with the sale my friend, I hope you get every penny out of it you are asking, it's worth it.

Oh, by the way, let me know when I should bring my buddy with the 26' Chapparal back over there, it's big enough for an 800 acre lake:rolleyes: , and its pretty good for wakeboarding....;)

Dang, that sucks man. Tough decision, but I understand where you're coming from. Before we found our private quarry, I felt like I was getting quality ski time like 4-5 times a year. I thought of selling too. Keep your eyes peeled, something will come up. I'll bet it's especially hard to let go of such an awesome boat - if I had the cash I'd put it to good use.
Good luck,
Kevin

Hey Guys! Thanks for your comments, you guys are a great group!
I will still be hangin' around. My brother in law will still have his boat at the cottage and we can still ski behind it once in awhile. Not to mention bumbing a ski off one of you guys once in awhile! ;)

I'm giving it a week or so here with hopes that a real MC person will buy it but after that I'll use a few other means of exposure.

That will help for a while..... Is that a souvineer from your trip? Funny thing, when we were in Cozymel last summer, went tequila shopping. Somebody told us to go to the "Tequilaria" over 1000 types. Stopped by a drug store on the way, they had a huge selection and a tasting bar. Found the tequilaria, it was a postage stamp sized room with about 20 types. Needless to say, bought some very nice "stuff" at the drug store. Don't remember seeing THAT, though. :)

Good God.... Berg, I keep a couple Ski's at "all" of my homes. Sounds like you have neither.

I feel for ya Stevo, the same thought has gone through my mind but I cant bring myself to sell it. Our lake is the same way, VERY dangerous. Not so much the EVIL "jetskis" but the moron weekend warriors in the oversize boats. I put less than 10 hours on last year, never had a ski on my foot. Had the boat out once this year so far. There's no way I could part with it though. Just have to find the time during the week to get out.

You can do some good bass fishing at 60 mph.

So now we're tweaking. Ignoring weight and drag for a moment, the question becomes can you get more hp out of a carb'd 351 or a fuel injected 350.

Any takers on that question?

Well, Steve, the offer still stands. I like that shrill GT40 whine anyway.

Obviously more power can be had by 350.
