Well, the neighbors invited us over and I had two rum and diet cokes...
It sounded good at the time and Leroy, very interesting post! :)
My wagon rides are usually very short...

I have this alcohol from Belgium (Gieniever sp) and you serve it very cold, so I put it in the freezer, but I don't want it to freeze like the beers I put in and forget...dammmmmmmit. I'm wanting one shot tonight and was hoping I could leave it in since it is strong alcohol, not like beer.I thought it was in article below, but not what I pasted, it said you can take hard cider, freeze it, skim off the ice and make some really BAD cider! OK I'm game!

When i was skiing in Germany...We lived with this big blonde german dude named Hans. He was a trombone(spelling)player. He had the hottest girlfriend named Elka. When they approached him about having 4 skiers living in partying in his bad *** house, he just responded, "i am not worried about me..i am worried about them!" Every day we would get off work and he would be waiting on us at the house with food and drink. He loved this grappa/oozo crap that had plants growing in it! I called it Hungarian lighter fluid. He gave me a bottle as a going away gift. I said gee Hans I don't know wither to say thank you or f u! When i got home i would keep it hidden and bust it out on friends in privite for a quick shot. They hated me the next morning! Sorry for the rant!

Beer typically freezes (depending on alcohol content) at 28 degrees. Remember Ice beer? It was stronger, right. What they did was bring it down to the 32 degrees range. The water began to freeze. Scoop the water out and bring it back up to serving temperature. Less water, higher alcohol %. Stronger beer.

Got myself a new one, too. Bought that mid 90s mirror mount for a MC off ebay. Will have to decide if I'm going to drill the windshield frame or take a lesson from my fellow 205 owner and not risk shattering the glass. Maybe I could just loosen the screws and pull the frame up. Hmmm.

Screw that!!! The government takes care of it all. I let them know when I want it packed and they schedule a packer/shipper. If anything breaks you file a claim with them and they get you squared away. They pack it, ship it, and unpack it on the other side. It doesn't cost me a dime.

That's too good Doug! First time out? Course in or do you leave it out there?

This will be the first time since I ran it in the driveway in January. Course is in locally, but I think we're going to run down to my father-in-law's place. Course is out down there and we probably won't be there long enough to mess with it. So just going to take some pulls up and down the river. Water level is supposed to be higher than it was at the end of the summer, but it could be higher still if I had it my way.

Doug
Is there less lillypath in the course from you running the course last year?

east tx skier
03-10-2006, 08:18 PM
In the local course, there is no problem with aquatic vegetation. On our course, there is typically no problem with it this early in the year. As the water level drops, you start to see more of them.

Leroy
03-10-2006, 08:18 PM
I was wanting ot make a course, but I've found this and want to try. For $25, they have private lake, course, instruction, provide the boat and driver. Only about 45 minutes away.

Man made lake?

Leroy
03-10-2006, 08:25 PM
Yes, it's a bigger lake at one of the exits off the interstate. I've swam the lake many times back when I did triathlons.

The guy warned me the set up is very tight.

Hoosier Bob
03-10-2006, 08:26 PM
Sorry to answer Leroy but I believe the lake was originally designed for camping/fishing/swimming and even had a nice rec area. Not originally designed for skiing. Very nice lake though. I skied a long time ago there 89/90 at a very amatuer event! :D Looks like a good place to learn and have fun.
Man made lake?

Leroy
03-10-2006, 08:31 PM
No problem Bob, I meant it is one of the "lakes" they make when they make an exit and scoop dirt out to make the ramp for the bridge. Similar to the guys course up I-69 toward Ft Wayne. It still has the campground and stuff, drove by there last weekend on the way to Cincinnati.

Hoosier Bob
03-10-2006, 08:34 PM
I do remember it being a little short but nothing like some friends in Ohio I have ski'd on. Talk about short! They run an 8 bouy course. You have to skip the first 2 on avery run but you can then use a much shorter lake. I have mentioned that many times before I am sure. :twocents: No problem Bob, I meant it is one of the "lakes" they make when they make an exit and scoop dirt out to make the ramp for the bridge. I thought about that. You can save about 275 feet on a man made lake. You would have to put more bouys(gates) of different colors to know where you're going.

The more I think about it it is a great way to get a lake nobody has targeted for slalom and save tons of $$$. I'm confused, I thought a normal course was 6 buoy. Making the 8 buoy course longer? Are you counting start/exit gates? HELP!

Hoosier Bob
03-10-2006, 08:53 PM
Draw a layout on a piece of paper. The 6 bouy course is centered but you really only need room for acceleration. Moving the 6 course to the end of a very short lake makes it possible to run in one direction but not the other. You now add two bouy's to the other end. This allows the boat and skier to accellerate to the correct speed and gate after the second bouy. it is also cool because as gates always messed with me I had a ref point. Call me and I can explain in more detail. I'm confused, I thought a normal course was 6 buoy. Making the 8 buoy course longer? Are you counting start/exit gates? HELP!

Still a normal course.Let's say you have a 2000' lake.875' for the course leave you with 1125' which is 562.5' on each end for set up.
But to decelerate at the end of a pass you don't need that much lenght.
Imagine an 8 bouys course but using only the first 6 ones each way.
Clear as mud...?
Drunk as hell... 8p

I think you can save even more feet. You will drop or get ready for the turn right after the gate though. I think my buddies lake was only around 1600' but I could be wrong. :o Still a normal course.Let's say you have a 2000' lake.875' for the course leave you with 1125' which is 562.5' on each end for set up.

Should we put some kind of breath device on this that determines if you have drank before you posted. My idea is that if you are not drinking....don't post!!!! Very good Bombay martini and alot of wine into the evening. Waiting on my pesto plank salmon to finish grilling.

Footin' and UMP, I go through this every spring and as I mentioned on another thread, I rarely get good water to ski on these days and they have overdeveloped our lake to the point that it is dangerous out there.
40 more damn condos with slips this year and I have no good options for another lake.
