Leroy, that's sounds like a dark "Shandy." Good hot summer day drink. I love wine, but more than two glasses and I'm completely useless for the next day and half.

Still waiting for my Starmag, too. :(
apparantly I got the last starmag
sorry fellas

Friday...Friday...Friday...!!

Sorry fellas I know I've been a little M.I.A. lately and deficient in my duties. But, between tests, jogging, papers, poopy diapers and searching for a truck I've been busy. But, now I'm back and my boating partner just got back from Afghanistan Wed (6 months) so we are hitting the river tomorrow BA-BEEE!! So, now that I have my affairs in order a bit, somebody pour me a tall one.

whew!! Astros win in 18 innings!!!
If you watch the highlights this evening, the grand slam by atlanta will show us as the ball drops into the astros bullpen. I'm the clown in the bar next to the bullpen, waving it off yelling to throw it back.
Spent 7-1/2 hours at the ballpark today.
I'm hungover/dried up/emotionally drained and have laryngitis.
what a game!

oh and ended up chatting with the father&son next to us at the game and they are ol skiers from wayy back.
Actually competed in nationals in the 80s but they dont ski now
they were disgusted to hear my boat is MC
They are big N lovers BUT, they haven't skiid in so long that they didn't even know about the advent of speed control, magnets, ski fly etc.
Great guys, but when we were kids skiing tournaments the N was my LEAST favorite boat to be drawn. Turns out, their love for N may in part, be because they were on the promo plan.
Good times, Good times.
funny, we were gritting out this 18 inning nailbiter and he says, "I'm so stressed right now, I'd rather be pulling pin for cory pickos than enduring this!" :D

they were true astros fans, I dont know what's wrong with their boat priorities  That guy was even present in the astrodome for the 1986 15inning playoff game against the mets.
Dont have season tix but paid thru the nose to sit in the restaurant in center field. That braves grand slam went into the bullpen next to us no more than 15ft away!
awesome watching the rocket and lidge and backe warming up when you're so close!
funny, there are at least 2 bullpen catchers. when rocket was warming up, he had one of them stand in as a batter for reference.... dude was wayy off the plate and he flinched backward and stepped back EVERY single pitch. too funny. that old fart can humm a baseball!

It turned out to be the greatest playoff game ever played, so I think we got our $ worth :o

Ok, here's the clip (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mediacenter/index.jsp) I mentioned earlier where you can see us on tv.

To watch it, you have to go to that link and then work thru the options to choose a game by date.
look at 10/9 braves v astros then scroll the right side box down to the clip of laroches grand slam and then watch it.
We are the ones in the tables (partially blocked by the espn score on the screen) and I'm the clown waving off the homer as it drops into our bullpen. Too funny
(I'm not the guy on the front row slamming the rail with his hand, I'm up a row or two in a black shirt)

We're out without fail by early March. It's chilly in a full wet suit, but perfectly skiable. There are also weekends before that where the air temp is warm enough that I'll probably get out before that. But for me to have a driver, I can't be seen in a dry suit.

i am hitting the martinis hard!

:D

Our normal Friday routine...after the greuling drive home from work (25 miles and usually about 1 hour), we change, then walk down to the "local". It's not far, and I KNOW I won't be able to drive home

Three martinis later, we usually stop by the market and pick up something to eat, head home, and have another martini or two...

Technically, we don't drink martini's. Mine's Tanq up with a twist (no vermouth) and her's is Ketel One the same way

Happy Friday, everyone!!!!

I think, technically, no vermouth is referred to as "an extremely dry martini." So you still qualify.

Martini. Rubbing alcohol. I frankly can't taste the difference.

/Scotch man here.

I used to drink Scotch, but the hangovers were too much...

The only problem with martinis is that they cost more than two gallons of gas!

You got to get your Martini Filthy (pour vermouth into shaker swirl, dump out add ice Ketel One and olive juice, shake, strain, pour, enjoy)

I put a little water in with it (ice, too, if it's a blend). Lemon twist, too, if it's a blend. Not only does the water cut down the dehydration factor a tad, a splash of water will really bring out the flavor of a single malt.

You sound like me with wine. I love red wine, but a few glasses and I'm useless the next day.

Here is the map (http://www.texassafetynetwork.org/issues/wet_dry/map_list/index.php). Saw some A&E special once that said that Tyler TX (Smith County is entirely dry, but you can buy beer/liquor in a bar to consume) had the largest number of churches and alcohol sales per capita in the nation. Hopefully, someday soon, we'll have another option election and the young punks will turn out to vote the blue hairs into submission finally.

Going home to drink a toast to my dad's memorie. Said goodby to him yesterday afternoon for what is likely to be the last time. He has battled cancer for 21/2 years and finaly lost. But he had 80 very good years with lots of good ,memories. I hope my marrage last as long as my parents 56 years last May.

Here's to all the good memories. :toast:
Dog, Sorry to hear it. Lost my Mom 5 years ago. The first year of holidays is the toughest.
Here, here, a toast to Whitedog's Dad.

I'll be pulling a beer from the tap when I get home. With the weather change, I'm looking to brew, too. I may take a crack at an I.P.A. They're hoppy, strong, and don't take as long as lagers.

Now you're making me feel bad...the last brew I made was probably 4-5 years ago, and I'm STILL drinking it...barleywine keeps getting better and stronger with age...it's at about 13% right now...

It usually takes me a year to finish drinking a batch of anything (and that's with giving away about a quarter of it.

My hesitation is due to the fact that this will be a bottle batch (kegerator is occupied with commercial brew). I really hate bottling. I'll get around to it. I just need to make sure I really want to drink an IPA for the next 9 months to a year.

Me too...I don't bottle any more. I'll wait to do another batch until the first one is gone...kegging is Soooooo much easier.

I just need to make sure I really want to drink an IPA for the next 9 months to a year.

IPA is about the only beer I'll drink anymore...of course, I rarely drink beer anymore. I find that I drink more martini's now. Beer just fills me up...

P.S. Check your PM east tx...

Yeah, check yours now. My cornie keg is empty and waiting, but I won't have a place to put it. Bottling will work for this batch and I'll get back to it soon. Yes, sooo much easier.

Funny, what are the sayings?

Never went home with a ugly girl but woke up with a few
I have a case of the midnight beauties
She is a double bagger

Others?

G/F dragged me to a party friday where a buncha her girls were gettin together so the guys played poker. sounds simple right? I show up with a couple hundred and some beers and figure what the hell.
These guys have a tournament table layout, fancy casino chips and a laptop showing timeframes for "blinds" and payouts for the top 3 players, needless to say this rookie walked into a minefield. If figured, hey, I've seen this on TV, I can play this... WRONG.
Payed my entry and got outta there with 3rd place though!

The host was cool but the guy who told us he was a pro and a tournament player etc, dealt cards like my 8 year old and taught guys to play in the same manner that booger taught guys to play poker on revenge of the nerds!
