Just checked the 10 day and it looks like our summer in WI will make a slower exit versus last year. Decided to leave the boat in the water at least a couple more weeks. More cabin weekends in September, game on. Oh yeah, and drinks at the cabin too.

Jack tastes like crap anyways.

You want a good bourbon. Go with Makers Mark. That's something you can sip on. Jack is nasty, worse than laphroaig, which smells like feet ;)

First of all, Jack is delicious! My favorite whisky for mixing, but not for drinking straight. Makers mark Imo is not good bourbon, but opinions will certainly vary. Woodford reserve and bookers are both good bourbons. We should all get together with a bunch of different brown liquors, and drink until we settle which is the MasterCraft owner's bourbon of choice.

My wife uses 7up cherry (drink is very pink and girlie tastes like kiddie cocktail), ginger ale, tonic water with lime, hi-c fruit punch,

The Swedish and Russian guys I know mix it with Pepsi. Sounds weird, but they do.

If you want something out of the vodka region. Try Makers Mark 46. Mix it with Coke, stirred. Not too strong or you kill the flavor. 1:4 ratio. That is my favorite drink. I like to sip off the foam it creates when you stir slowly.

two shooters of 99 apples in a solo cup mixed 50/50 with pinapple juice and cranberry juice....then I beleive you splash one of those or the other on top....taste like a jolly rancher and will mess up your night.

Sorry only know the measurments from my liq store days....we drank whatever was on sale in the shooters section.....99 apples was on sale for a while so we came up with that....its a good tasting drink.....I personally am to lazy to go through all that effort now days

I like this mix with nothing but Titos. Also...Pour some extra vodka in and put it in a shaker with ice. Shake it up and strain into a martini glass. It comes out ice cold and very thin! Rocks!

I am a strict beer drinker and not a bud light/miller light person at all. You can tell by my avatar pic my favorite brand but also love blue moon, spotted cow, honey brown, old style time to time ect. I would like to start out with a nice bourbon to see if that is something I would like in place of a beer once in a while.

Any ideas on where to start so I dont have my first and regret it?

If you're not up for that first burn of a bourbon - the canadian whiskey's bite less cuz they are made from rye. Jim Beam and Maker's Mark are liked by many. Jack Daniels liked by many as well but it's not a bourbon officially.

Jameson Irish Whiskey also not a bourbon is a good start as well - very consistent - less sweet then bourbon.

Here's what ya do. Go to the store, buy yourself a pint of Crown Royal. Great quality, super smooth. I love it on the rocks, where the ice just barely starts to melt. Avoid Jack off the bat as it has a certain "bite" to it, until later....I think that you will enjoy this "upper middle class" Canadian whiskey. My $0.02

I good scotch should be the ticket. If you have a good liquor store in your area, ask someone there for a recommendation. Can't go wrong with any of the Johnnie Walkers. For some high end sippin', try the Johnnie Walker Gold Label. Smoothest I've ever had, like velvet.

For bourbon, I found the Wild Turkey to be surprisingly smooth -- good stuff. For straight sipping, I like Russells Reserve.

Oh Bourbon. I could go on for days... Anything small batch. The usual suspects, Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve. Or unknowns like Angels Envy. My current favorite is Basil Hayden. I have been trying new bourbons a lot over the last year and I always come back to Basil Hayden.

Tried to get into scotch. But I guess it just isn't my thing.

Thank you, friends. We didn't find out what we were having before the birth. We decided to let that be the surprise. Needless to say, we were both happy with the outcomes.

Now that we have two girls and a boy, the wife is asking when…um…I'm getting my phone disconnected.
