Yes it is a microbrew here in Wisconsin. My son in law is a beer geek who is always on rate beer. He has my wife and I converted to nothing but microbrews.

We planned our sumer vacation in Oregon around hiking in the woods and visiting microbreweries. Our favorite was Full Sail - started with a 7 mile hike looking at water falls in the AM then a late lunch watching the wind surfers on the Hood River, eating good pub food and drinking great beers. In all 10 breweries in 9 days and sampled 50 different beers!

Really nice vacation. Need to back some day.

I got a handfull. I called the company that I bought the rhizomes from and they said it's typical to get very few flowers the first year. I'll see how they do this summer.

We're also moving our company to a new facility in March. There is an outdoor patio with an 8' iron fence around it for security (probably 60' of fence). The sun exposure is excellent, and it gets really hot here in Windsor, so I'm going to plant some and train them up the fence.

Good deal. Remind me what you're growing. I am off hiatus. I brewed an extract/grain Kolsch and have decided to make the leap to all grain from here on out. Bought a 34 qt kettle and am going to do a cooler conversion soon for a lauter tun. I hope my wife doesn't notice all the new equipment.

Chinook (alpha 11-13%) and Cascade (alpha 4-7%).

You keg or bottle?

I can smell 'em now. I'm set up to do either. I kegged my last two batches, but I'm going to bottle the Kolsch I think unless I can find another C02 tank to force carb it without having to unhook whatever commercial keg I have on tap by then. I think I've just forgotten what a monumental PITA it is to bottle. This'll learn me. I racked the Kolsch to the secondary last night and crash cooled it to let it condition like a lager at 40 degrees for a month or so.

Man I wish I could lager...how cold does it have to be? Somewhere around 40?

I bottled about 10 batches before I bought the keg system. I now have two 5# CO2 tanks, three 5 gallon soda cans, and a nice manifold system to pressurize them to whatever pressure they need. Of course, it's all disassembled now, but once I'm done finishing out the basement, I'm going to put together a small area for brewing...

Funny part is...I drink Martini's...I mostly make beer for others, and because it's fun to do...

Typical primary for a lager is 45--55 degrees. Secondary usually benefits from a cold crash down to the 40s or lower. Depends on the yeast though. A Kolsch is an ale, but like German ales, it's fermented a little cooler (low to mid 60s) and cold conditioned. Same with Alts.

Regular ales are good, too. And much faster to the bottle/keg. Patience pays though. My lagers and German ales have always received better reviews.

My first all grain is going to be a Dunkel I believe.

Well you are, arent' you? With pretty colors and such too...

I've been up in cloudy and cold Maryland this week. Just got back home this afternoon. Put the boat in the water. Then we went to the outdoor bar/restaurant for dinner and watched the sunset. Like you said trick: It's nice here in FLA!
