Can anyone tell me what kind of antenna to use and how it should be mounted? I just installed a new stereo in my Prostar 195 that didn't have a radio in it.

On my 96 PS190 the antennae is located in the port side. It is just laying on the floor off to the side under the observer's seat.

I went to Auto Zone and purchased a long "whip" style antenna. I believe mine is about 5'.

For mounting, I used zip ties to string it along the underside of the deck in the bow. It is up high and out of the way, and the reception is excellent. Best of luck.

Mine was mounted By MC up under the bow with those little "P" clips and screws, it's just a regular automotive type antenna plugged into the back of the radio head like normal.
PLEASE don't mount it on the deck like you would on a car fender!

I bought a soft wire (http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/18471/0/0/antenna/All_2/mode%20matchallpartial/45/0) antenna from WestMarine. It was cheap and works great. Just tucked it up under the dash.

you can tie wrap just about any kind of antenna up under the gunnels, out of site ,out of mind.

I always thought the "Dark Side" put 2 antenna on the deck, one each side near the transom with coon tails flying from them, aka 1960's retro look!
