I assume you had to take the boat up to TN to have him do the work(?) - you were living in ATL at the time, right? I'm looking to get someone to replace the interior in my 1990 PS 190. I had a local shop do a couple pieces for me and I'm not really satisfied, don't trust them to do the whole boat.

Can anyone recommend a good shop in the NW Florida area, or at least somewhere between JAX, Mobile, and Atlanta ? Maybe in Central FL...

I've got the first week in December!I don't want to aquire any disgrunted friends on here, so I took the liberty moments ago and called Jim as well.

In fact, we spoke twice today.
I had no problem reaching him, on either occasion.

He did ask me to have you guy's and anyone else who's interested in "NEW SKIN REPLACEMENT" to call him on his cellphone instead of his home number, which maybe part of the reason he didn't call back.

He did my boat himself.
As far as match'n orignal color, he matched mine perfectly.
The answer to the last question is I DON'T KNOW.

You should probably call him yourself and ask, he'll be happy to answer anything you may want to know.

Just curious, how long did it take for him to return your calls? I have been leaving messages for the last 6 weeks (most were on his cell phone, 1 was left at his home number), but to no avail.

Does anyone have any insight/secrets to get him to respond? I would like to use his services based on everyone's recommendation here.

Thanks.

I have left him several messages also and he hasn't called me back either. I am looking a getting some skins for a 99. I just need the skins; I wasn't planning on sending him my cushions. I indicated that in my messages, and maybe that's not how he works. I even left him my toll free # at work. The courtesy of a returned call even just to say no thanks goes a long way.

I can put them on.

I don't know that he's a board member, but when I spoke to him...
we came to an agreement that I would ship him my old skins, he would use them for patterns, and ship the new skins back to me.

he claimed there were so many variations, even in the same models

I was supposed to get it done the first week in Dec. or Jan. and here it is March, and I'm scrambling to get the old skins off:o

Good news. It took me a long time (~2 months), but I finally spoke with Jim this week. I am taking everything to him on Saturday for him to recover.

FYI, he stated that he is already booked through April and had 5 more calls to return after he spoke to me.

Keep after him and hopefully it will eventually pay off. I will post before and after pictures once I get everything back.

I have been waiting for 3 months for a new seat base skin for my 2002 X30. My dealer has not heard anything from the plant. I am about ready to call this guy to see if he can do it.

Jim actually did the installation as well. I took the seat bases, motor box, and panels to him. He removed the old skins, made the new ones, and then attached them to the seats. It was a very easy process for me.

To be fair to Jim, I don't want to put the price that I paid on the board. However, Jorski, I have PM'd you with some information.

I really don't want to spend this much money on upholstery and not have the embroidery done:(

Greg Clower at MasterCraft mentioned he might be able to get a one time approval for an embroierer to reproduce the font/stitching without risk of copyright infringement.

Here are a few more. Since I could not get original skins, but wanted somewhat of a original look, We did a true double stitching on the vinyl to mimic the heat pressed "stitching" on the MC skin material, added some lines and pockets to the captains seat, and chromed the gear shift plate and pylon.

update on my 91 PS190's embroidery

I'm finally getting somewhere.

found a guy in Las Vegas
http://www.embroideredportraits.com/

Very professional attitude, and VERY prompt to answer my emails

told me I'd have a digitized example within 24 hours.... it was more like 8 hours.
Nothing will be "finished" without my approval

How we become embroidery designers?
We always loved animals, especially our german shepherd, that traveled with us everywhere. After his death, we wanted to embroider his portrait on our jackets. We wanted to show his eyes, his personality as paintings and drawings do. Unfortunately we could not find anybody to do that. We decided we’ll do it ourselves.
We researched, studied and created our first embroidered portrait in 1997. Since then we have converted thousands of designs to embroidery, including portraits.

Thanks. I now have a great deal of respect for anyone who installs the skins. It's really a workout on the hands. Plus, I used over 2000 stainless staples. Jim does great work. He included every little piece you need plus he sells fabric by the yard. The only problem I ran into was that the skin for the motorbox was a bit larger than the original. After adding an inch of foam to the box, everything worked out fine.

I definitely recommend Jim.
