Somebody once told me that if you put it in the freezer for a day or two it is easier to get the knot out when frozen.

I didn't believe him and never tried it.

I've used the lightly tap with a hammer and that worked well for me.

A hammer and a pair of needle nose pliers will do the trick.

I've used two pair of pliers, one in each hand grabbing opposite sides of the knot. They can be really tough to get though. I didn't notice one for a while, tried to get it out, but decided to leave it. It's been like that for ~6 years, no issues. I guess my 15 off passes are really 15.0000001 off.
Good luck.

smack/whip the knot on concrete, or even the side of the hull, it loosens it right up. Hasn't failed me yet...

In addition to the above, try using a cork-screw to grab a hold of the rope. It won't do any damage (usually), and really gets a good hold for pulling.

Or better yet, smack it up against the bozo that let the knot happen in the first place!

Tie a knot on the other end, the same distance from the center of the rope so it will be balanced and all is well or loosen the pylon to compensate for the shorter rope. :twocents:

ha ha, check the length of your rope anyway, you might be closer to tolerence.

I've had some knots and found that i can undo them solely by pushing and twisting the poly around, it loosens up by itself.

Or grab a drink, and hop a squat by your TV, and just start workin at it, you'll be amazed when you look down and its loose.

I used a fid to get into the knot and work it until the knot loosens up. NOTE: A fid is usually used to backthread a rope.
Good Luck....

Thanks Leroy! Had some newbies on the boat today and he tossed a bundle into the water, thought we had it straight but it did have one knot. It was dang tight and so I thought someone may have a good idea. The hammer and few few taps all the way around (180 degrees) and it came right out. Probably 30 seconds...
