Just picked up my new PS 209 & on the return trip noticed that the trailer fender is rubbing on the tire sidewall. Has anyone had this same problem? If so, what was the solution? The boat is a 2002 & the trailer is the same year.

I would first check to make sure that it isn't just a loose bolt or two that holds the fender on.

Have the wheels been changed? If so, they may not have the same offset as the originals.

I am not sure if your axles are torsion or leaf springs, but I have heard of torsion axles sagging over a long winter's break, so that could possiblly be the issue...

If it is just on one side, and there seems like extra clearance on the other side, the axle could have slid in the U-bolts.

I too have a 2002 -209 and when I took the boat in once the 1st year I had it (2003)the dealer replaced something with the axle under warranty - he said that this would prevent it from riding too low. I don't know exactly what they did, but I believe they replaced the whole axle assembly. I would have your dealer check into this - it sounded like they had some problems with the trailers in that time frame. Good luck.

Check THIS (http://mymastercraft.com/Forum/view_thread.cfm?postid=42&forum=10&category=2) out. There was a bulletin on this issue for your year trailer.

2002 trailers

UFP bulletin #02-UFPSB001 If any trailer has significantly less (more than 1") fender clearance when compared to the other trailer tire(s) the axle must be replaced.

There is a bad batch of torsion bars used on several brands of trailers. I saw a Malibu's SBT trailer fail the first week of use.

check the mymastercraft.com site under recalls.

Thanks for the feedback! The info on the UFP bulletin was very helpful, I called Mastercraft tech services & they advised me to bring it in to the dealer. Sounds as though Mastercraft will cover the repair. We shall see!

I have an 02 PS 209. The original owner who I bought it from in the spring of last year, had trailer problems from the day he got it. The brakes would lock up, the fenders rubbed, etc. etc. He kept tkaing it back and the dealer was slow to do anything about it. He wrote a letter to the president of MC and two weeks later got a phone call from him. He had a new '04 tandem axle trailer shipped to his dealer for a replacement, no charge. So, good for me as well as now I have the boat and the accompaning trailer. Moral of the story, go to the big man.

I've also had my 2002 trailer's axle replaced the first year. No questions asked. Picked the boat up from the dealer and they said Your boat is on a different trailer... cuz we are replacing the axle on yours. we'll let you know when it's done but in the meantime use this trailer. Worked for me!
