always been fiddling with my 1985 MC Trailer Tongue Coupler. Since I only trailer twice a year always have lived with it, now have interested parties coming next weekend so need to get it fixed. Just want to replace the coupler only, not the whole tongue.

What coupler will work????
- Fulton 22 & 2 Series Fas-Lok Coupler: 2" ball diameter P/N: 59 0801

The critical measurementl, and AFAIK the only thing that differentiates 2" couplers, is the measurements of the part that bolts onto the trailer tongue. It would be nice to not have to drill new holes, but I think the spacing is standard, particularly if you have a Fulton on there now.

factory original coupler on the 1985, but i'm looking to only have to replace the insert!!!rather than the whole tongue...think MC welded it from factory, didn't they???

Now ya got me. I'm getting mixed up in the terminology. The coupler is the silver thing in your picture above. The tongue is the 4 inch square steel tube that is part of the trailer. I don't know about 1985, but they're not usually welded on these days - usually they're just bolted. I don't know what you mean by insert. If, by insert, you mean the lock lever that flips up/down to unlock/lock the ball clamp onto the ball, then yes, those are available separately for Fulton. Removing them is easy - just takes a socket wrench to unbolt the ball clamp from below and the lever assembly just lifts out.
