This weekend I had an opportunity to drive a friends GT. Not only does this car look awesome, and even better in person, it's incredibly fast with race car handling. Despite it's performance, it's easy to drive and has plenty of room I'm 6'4" and had no issues. Just as luck would have it, we decided to air it out on a straight and empty stretch of Alabama highway and just had hit 150 when a state trooper popped out coming the other way. By the time he managed to turn around in the median, we had put some distance between him and us and found a place to duck in and hide. This pic is from the "hiding spot". :D

Only building 4000 (maybe it's five, can't remember), the production run ends this year. Another friend of mine is getting number 3999. Edsel Ford gets # 4000. Sticker on the the red one was about $155K, but a bargain for what you get compared to true exotics.

Those are pretty cool cars. On the same note, I drove a new Corvette Z06 yesterday, that thing was incredible.

Congrats on the successful hiding spot too...

I know they're pricey, but if they're rare, is there a reason this little podunk town south of the semi-podunk town I inhabit has one in their showroom. This town only has one stop light and it has a Ford GT on the showroom floor.

Nice cars..........they are going for $250,000 -- $300,000 at Barrett Jackson Auctions recently. Can't figure tha one out. FYI........the new Corvette Z06 will hand that car it's lunch for 1/2 the price ;)

175,00 was the going rate for the one that sold at our local dealership. Seen one at the car show here recently, cool looking but I'd rather spend that kind of money on something else.

There are two I know that have been sold locally, the second was the owner of the other car dealership we have here, the owner bought the car and then cancelled the company Christmas party because the company is broke. Wonder why?

There is one at the Huntsville, AL dealership. $166K!

If I could afford it, I would own it.

There are a few on ebay going between $150,000 to $200,000. And no, the ZO6 would not hand the car it's lunch, it would be the other way around if you read some of the actual testing. The car can only be compared to the exotics such as the ferrari Enzo and Modeno which cost over double the price. If you go back in history, this car was designed to beat ferrari, and did just that. In 1964, Ford and Enzo had an agreement for Ferrari to be sold to Ford. Enzo backed out and the Duece (Henry Ford 2), said that he would make Enzo pay at LeMans, and he did, to say don't mess with Ford. Bill Ford brought it back in 05 to 06 with 4000 units, to cease production in August.

The GT has that "cool factor" working in its favor though. The Z06 is a sweet car at a bargain price, but it is still a Corvette. To the untrained eye it is nothing special. The Viper is also a decent car, but is rather ugly in my opinion. When you see a GT in person, the stance of the car draws your eye to it and you know it is not your average car.

Absolutely right, well put. I am surprised to see the performance of the three is so close, but the GT just has the looks, but at a price.

The dealer up the road here has gone through 3 of them in about 6 months. NEW.
Last time I was in there, the dealer had an offer on the table for a set of Brand new cars. A GT40 and Carerra GT. The offer stood ay $500K and the dealer declined. They are getting well over sticker for both here. They have sold both of them since that offer.

The GT is an awesome looking ride for sure. Reminds me of my favorite hot wheels car from my childhood.

I did the powder coating on the supercharger. You can see it through the back window. It is one of the few "cool" parts we do.

Awesome car for sure.

I drove one last fall (a friend owns it) and loved it. I started looking around to see if anybody would sell one at MSRP ($130k), but nobody would budge...even the "used" ones are going for well over MSRP.

I think they're supposed to make more in '06 or '07 once they work out the bugs, but I haven't heard an update lately...
