No not at all....I used to work in network operations for a Bank and we had to research slow response issues, so we looked at current traffic and we caught a guy chatting on a gay porn site. we thought it was pretty funny.

*disclaimer* By no means am I saying that there is anything wrong with gay porn sites or chatting there if that is what floats your boat.

there is a neat little thing called net send goes a little something like this

from a command line (dos) type in - net send (user name) message

I think we sent something like "websiteaddress is not an appropriate use of bank resources"

We caught people looking at all sorts of stuff, what was really cool was when the user causing the slow response because they were streaming music called and complained.

Something everyone should consider....................

The TT Admin person who, locked the threads, posted his comments and sent the mentioned e-mail or e-mails was only doing his job. He has superiors at MC, who are Officers of MasterCraft, investers in MasterCraft and they are the ones who sign his paycheck! If this abuse got as far out of hand as it appears it did, he was acting on orders from higher up and if he did not do his job he may have lost his. Would you have rather it happened as it did or would you have prefered John Dorton come on here and have his say? He may not have been as kind?

He WAS nice about it. On a couple of different occasions over several months. People kept pushing anyway. We got what we deserved. I'm impressed that they waited this long to lock the threads, I'm impressed they didn't just delete the whole threads, I'm impressed that they didn't just outright ban the offenders.

I am an Admin on three different vBulletin discussion groups - a couple of them for many years. I have never shown the kind of administrative forebearance that Chris has shown for subscribers who knowingly and repeatedly violate the site TOS. Loaded with anger? - you bet...

If John Dorton ever felt it necessary to come here to fix the swimsuit thread problem, that would indicate that MasterCraft has some serious problems in their administrative structure.

If Mr. Dorton is aware of this issue at all, I'll bet it occupied his consciousness for no more than about 10 seconds. If otherwise, I'd be worried.

I did not realize that their had been efforts taken prior to the lock out and the email. I guess I am glad I did not get one! Sorry guys...

They let it go on for an additional (approximate) 30 pages (by my computer's settings for "page") after the request was made. I'd qualify that email as stern rather than filled with anger. No reason there should have been an email any more than Steve or anyone else should have thought it was okay to post porn on MC's discussion board.

Alright guys I was just asking a question.

For what it's worth I was not offended, I deserved it. I just know I did not act alone and wondered.

Steve

Steve, what I'm about to say isn't directed at you personally. I'm sure you weren't the only one.

By and large, we're all adults here and we ought to be familiar of the concept of site ownership and rules, especially since to post on this site you've agreed to so abide. That Steve (and I know you weren't the only one man, but since you called yourself out on the thread I'm using you as the example --- no judgment on my part for it) wasn't banned immediately says a lot about MC as a company and its understanding of the importance of this site as a resource for its business. But it's got to balance the benefits with the not so great stuff.

And it's not just that it's porn. It was probably copyrighted porn (unless Steve is in the biz???). Look at that recent copyright case where google got sued because its image search brought up pictures from pay porn site. While this message board is a valuable tool for MC to bring in business, I sincerely doubt its worth a big potential lawsuit.

Posting stuff that's clearly not supposed to be here can potentially jeopardize this board as a resource. And it's not like we've got a whole lot of options when it comes to a resource like this with the traffic and the immediate answers to questions it and its users provide.

Jason was doing his job for MC. MC is looking out for its interests as a company. Posting that stuff was not even close to a good idea (like anyone needed to say it). I never saw anything on that thread but a bunch of .............., the two times I looked in on it, but clearly it was just a matter of timing (or ability to view the site cache).

Steve, in the end, I'm glad you weren't banned as I and others like having you around. Needless to say, those posts weren't your primary contribution to this site. But that said, for the sake of our collective continued use of this website, I hope this is the last time anyone makes the decision to post stuff like that on here.

I'm not saying that because I find the subject matter offensive personally. I'm saying it because it, to a certain extent, took what self-governance of this site MC has afforded us as users out of our hands. They've got to keep an eye on us because we can't be trusted. And from a self-governance perspective, I a user of this site shouldn't have ignored that it was going on and should've posted a request as a mere user that you guys stop doing it. But I wimped out because I didn't want to be a killjoy and, at the time, I was just a user of this site like the rest of you. Today, that is still the case. Tomorrow, it might not be.

People, as an avid user of this boating resource, I have a simple request. Please just send the stuff to Brad so it can end up in the list or on www.theswimsuitthread.com.

Sorry to get all preachy.

Have a great day.

Hey, as long as we're confessing things. I started one of the first two threads to ever get deleted in its entirety. Not only did I purportedly "promote another brand," but the whole thread turned into a big, screamin', name-callin' affair.
