didn't realize they were out yet. I haven't seen any around here yet. I guess anything would look cool if you modify it enough.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like it. Especially if they're as well built as the original FJ-40s. Those things are like tanks and can go anywhere. I haven't seen any in person though. I don't even think they have them at the local Toyo dealer yet.

I'm sure Hoosier Bob will be chiming in soon about how great these are and they would be even better if it were a honda.

They had a few at the Chicago Auto Show. Posted some pics in that thread if I recall. I have to say.... I saw them.....:( but that is the extent of it.

I'm anxiously awaiting my first sight of one on the road. Can't decide from the pics whether or not I like it. I probably won't - too far from the original FJ40 LandCruiser for my tastes. It doesn't appear to be a true off road capable rig. Someday I will hopefully have an old one for trail riding. I've had a FJ60 LC (1985) and currently have a FJ80 LC (1996) - the last of Toyota's "trail rigs" IMHO. I can't blame them though, the true trail rigs are likely a very small market, but a little competition to the Wrangler would be good. The old LC's are tough as nails, and are incredible trail rigs. I need to win the lottery . . .

the latest Motor Trend mag had this story:

2006 Hummer H3 vs. 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade vs. 2006 Nissan
Xterra OR-V6 vs. 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4x4

& the FJ cruiser beat the others.

i saw one at the boat show, why the toyo dealer was there is beyond me , but they were trying to start it an it was having issues..

to me it looks to much like a toy and not a tuff 4x4.

They need to bring back the International Scout. My family had 3 of them, best 4 wheelers and fun little trucks.

I'll have to go back through my Consumer Reports and see what they said about them. I remember reading the write-up, but can't remember the details. I just couldn't get the image of that horrible vehicle out of my head, it clouded my vision.

Coincidently I passed one on the way home yesterday going north on I-25 thru Denver. It was black and I thought it looked pretty cool. Not as utilitarian as I hoped, but still pretty rugged. As an owner of an original FJ40 I'm really looking forward to checking one out in person. I had actually forgot about it and I am glad you guys reminded me about it.

uh oh, my dad will probably want one.

can't remember how many land cruisers I had the pleasure of sitting in the back of, banging around on the roll bars.

oh youth.

I like them. Obviously not as rugged as the original but I think they look pretty good. From what I have read they are pretty 4x4 capable as well. Pretty neat rig and with some mods I bet they would be sweet!

I hope Ford does the retro Bronco

I was reading in the paper today about them. Noone I know has one. Last time I saw one even on the road was about a month ago it the MORK color scheme of yellow and white. Before that was at the Chicago Auto show.

I did finally see one on the road, I was surprised at how much better it looked in person compared to the photos. I've only read the Car & Driver report, not exactly a true test of the off road capabilities. I can't imagine they would be a good tow vehicle, but I guess the wheelbase is more like a 4Runner than a Jeep, so maybe it wouldn't be too bad.
