Of course keep it real and give us the story behind the scar. I don't want to leave everyone crying but a little wincing never hurt anyone!! :D
PS. Good stories about your scars will suffice! Pics even better!

the first time was a scope, that time was a complete open knee. replaced ACL using patellar tendon, repaired meniscus and removed bone spur. i damaged it again last year wakeboarding and it needs to be scoped again. tore my MCL in the other knee in hockey last year. havent gotten opened up for that one yet.

still playing hockey although only beer leagues now. just got into wakeboarding last year, i wear my brace every time and most of the time i'm ok. occasionally i land wrong, it swells up pretty big for a few days and then i have to take it easy. just to remind me i'm getting old i guess

20 years ago a friend brought a parasail up to our cabin, they were going to run off of the grass/sea wall and go up up and away ... didn't plan on catching the sail on the crank for the shorestation ... lifted it up (no boat on the lift at the time) until the sail ripped ... friends parasail, friends daughter, man did she bawl!

Not sure if this one is kosher but...

Nothing too exciting... Chasing my then 10 year old down the dock in the winter. Took a stride onto a carpeted mat just beside the boat and out from under me it went. Down I went onto the dock - HARD! I probably skidded 6 feet. If you look closely (not that you'd want to,) you can see bruising where my jeans were creased and my belt was. That is a serious slam dunk.

Weirdest part......there was no blood. What you see is right after pulling the wet suit off. Here it is with the suit still on.
Wiley sewed the suit up with white thread.... matches the scar in my leg perfectly! :toast:

Needless to say, 8 ft of airtime on a tube is not a good idea.

Story goes, 4th of July 1999 I was tubing behind a buddy’s boat. Told him that I wanted some big air. Caught a couple feet of air on a good wave while I was slinging around a curve. I landed on a much bigger wave at the exact instant that the rope cinched tight. Did I say that he was doing nearly 30 mph?

Caught championship airtime off of that wave, friends said there was about 8 ft of air under the tube. Every now and then in your life you have a moment of clarity when you know exactly what is going to happen next, kind of like déjà vu. It was obvious to me that this was going to hurt because I had an eternity in the air to think about just staring down at the water. Landed head first, concussion and whiplash. Then the rope started passing me while I was still underwater. It hit the lift jacket first, leaving a red mark across my chest through the jacket. Then it slashed my neck with obvious results. No one drop of blood, but a story for life and a picture to back it up.

No scar but I fell head first running 36mph and slipped a disc in my neck. It was the worst pain I ever had in my life. I had to be dragged into the boat. I couldn't move one arm. It took six months to heal. Be careful when you get in your forties.

Here it is in the correct thread. How it happened? Fell off the very top of a ladder in the garage trying to get stuff out of the rafters. Only, the ladder was just a little short and I was on my tippy toes pulling on a box pretty good when the ladder went out from under me. Didn't feel a thing but I knew it was broken. Had some blood on me but didn't know where that came from. Just laid on the floor of the garage until my son finally got the phone from the house for me. After about an hour in the ER I finally started to feel it...no drugs yet. Long story short, my husband called my Orthopedic office and someone came right in and drugged me up real good.

Sorry to hear about your brush with Breast Cancer there Betsy. Glad it turned out ok.

Do mental scars count for this thread? I just had a really close call snow skiing Fri night. One of those where I said after it was all done "I should be dead".

Long story, but let's just say after landing a nice jump, my binding popped off & I was sliding down a double-diamond head first, no skiis on snow that had a reflection (read: solid ICE) towards the trees. I was able to spin around feet first just in time to break off 2 trees at the ice line with my feet.

The good news is - no physical scars. Only mental ones. I was shaking so bad after it "sank in", that I had to go back & do the same jump/turn just to get back on that horse.

I tore my Bean Bag about 1/2 an inch during a Motorcycle accident. True Story!

Long story short... at about 25 MPH lost control of the bike, feet off the pegs behind me, the bike went sideways, and I slid down the lenght of the bike belly side down and my ball bag caught on the peg. Finished out the rest of the days ride then went to the hospital. Dr suggested 5 stitches but I pitched a fit and he said a Butterfly would suffice as longs as I keep em warm and dry.

That beautiful wrist of mine...pictured earlier in the thread, now has a cyst growing at the end of the titanium plate. I am tired of being cut open!
Thats not a cyst BB, its rust. They probably used a hunk of iron they found in the boiler room cause the bio-eng salesman didnt show up that week. Good news is, we can sand it and repaint it. Bad news is, gonna cost you some coin. Me and Hoosier work relatively cheap. He is the anesteseologist, and I am the surgeon. He decides how much sedating(tequila) you need, and I can fix your wrist. I will remove the plate, sand it down and hit it with some rustoleom. I got this new Dewalt drill and I am really wanting to try it out. should work fine for removing the plate. and I got a wagner power sprayer. You prefer spider wire stiches? or monofilament?

Cool! WE are located in the back alley past the Dairy Queen. Go down that alley, take a right at the drunken bum, and go left at the dumpster. Knock 7 times on the door that says "Public accountant" & I will answer. I take VISA and MASTERCARD too! I also accept cash and travelers checks. Updated photo of the knee. Great doctor who doesn't leave bad scars. The wife counted and I have something like 15-20 scars from the two operations. The doc says that I have 7 or 8 screws in the one knee. Sounds bad but I'm terrible with numbers and never remember them.
