I have heard that automotive type electronic ignitions don't work well in the marine environment.

Don't do it. Pay the bucks for a marine unit. One spark and it could be all over, not worth the potential risk to you, your family, or your guests.

Pertronics makes a real nice marine conversion kit that has worked great on my MC HO454 the Ignitor II is a breeze to install. And It senses startup and retards timing briefly to give easier starts and then adjusts itself for a nice performance profile.

I instantly got really easy one touch startups. Rebuilt carb helps too.

Matt

PS Cheap too ~ $100.00

MSD pro billet looks nice , but how much does it cost? When you click for price it gives you a bunch of dealers & no real info on price or anything else.
$321 through summit racing right now. i did one with the MSD marine box last year in a Brendella, what a huge difference in how it runs.
i put a sea demon carb on also, very nice piece.
it's getting a cam this year i think

we went with a prestolite and a world of a differnece, NO LIE! I don't even need tp pump the throttle when i fire it up! AND it it more responsive. You can feel just the slightest touch of the throttle. I love it!
