By far the best dogs for a pet. Mine is more a pet than a hunting dog, but he can retrieve with the best of them and will bite your a$$ if you screw with the little one!!! He goes to water like a redneck to NASCAR and Old Milwaukee's Best!!!!

Here are my two couch potatoes. German Shorthairs.
Wyatt Earp on the right my 6yr old male.

I always have a full boat when I need to ski!

I've got a 1 year old male mutt on the left (Dalmation / Pit Bull mix) and a pure breed 5 year old female Australian Shepherd on the right! You take a guess of who bosses who around!

This is BOONE, he is a 12 week old beagle pup i raised...his dad was the best damn dog / buddy i ever had, not to mention he'd run the sh!t out of a deer!!! I'd take the dogs hunting with me and let ole DAN ride shotgun. Dan was killed about a month back by one of the neighbors pitbull/bull mastif mix. (a dog that i will eventually get back for killin my buddy)....any way heres the little spoiled rotten pup (he too rides shotgun)

rem_p - that really stinks... I hate people who can't/won't control their pets.

SkiuFool - I feel for you bud.... that Damnation mix must be a handful! And to also have an aussi - do you enjoy pain? :uglyhamme

Here's a pic of Connelly, the Damnation and Gracie, the Brit/field spaniel mix. I have to say that Gracie is the best dog I have ever had. Even compared to my black lab I had.

Rick, you never struck me as a Westie kind of a guy. From my experience, they're cool little dogs though.

"Rodman" is pretty tuff... not a westie guy huh...Try walking that cute little guy through a park full of Bikinied women and ask me how many times the women want to talk about Rodman or how cute he is??? Can you say "babe magnet".. And I need all the help I can get..

I had great danes for over 20 years and after the big D decided to try something a little "smaller".... Rodman is a good pal... and unlike my EX he can find his way home at night.....

09-23-2004, 04:27 PM
The babe magnet works well with Golden Retreiver puppies, too, if I remember correctly.

A friend of mine growing up had a really cool little Westie. Every once in a while, he'd put Sprite in his water bowl. I've never seen any other dog make a face.

Rem, I'd be really pissed. Isn't there anything the law can do for you?

nope, this same dog has killed a couple of other dogs before...killed the neighbors a couple of weeks before he killed mine....and we live outside of city limits...the rural kinda of country setting so really no laws apply....the guy with the dog has in on a chain now so it wont get loose(so he says), but if it does pretty much everybody in the neighbor hood is waitin to kill it so it wont make it long...im still thinking about takin care of it myself...most folks in the neighborhood let their dogs run free, i keep all of my dogs up except for Dan...he was goin on 12 years old and i figured a couple years back that he deserved to run loose and do his own thing, instead of being kept in a cage all the time when i wasnt around...letting him off to run loose was probably a good thing, he seemed happier and had more energy, he was truly happy the last couple of years before his death...sure it sucks for me, but everyone's been there before and its part of life, one of those things to make you stronger i reckon

Here's an old pic of the dogs getting to play. They don't get to ride in the MC now. :)
We don't have any recent pics -- the little one has recently gone thru a massive auto-immune attack and doesn't photo very well. In fact, she's lucky to be able to take photos at all. She's well on the way to recovery now -- after a grand in vet bills. And I thought the boat was a high maintenance item!

Tell Nathalie thanks!
I have to grab her by the back of her neck area and gently pull her up. She does most of the work, I just kinda guide her up. I have an idea for a device to attach to the platform that will allow her to get back on the boat herself. As soon as I get it engineered properly I will post some pics.

I have some very sad news to share with you all that my "best friend", Blaser, past away this morning. Blazer was 11 yrs old and past away in our home unexpectedly and without any apparent reason. He was healthy and fit and his passing was very traumatic for our family, especially myself. He was gifted with bringing joy to all of those that knew him. He was a good companion and I am fortunate to have shared so many memories with him. He was my fly fishing and upland hunting buddy and he will always be with me, but memories don't ease the pain of our loss. Blazer was such a great dog and one of his favorite things he enjoyed was riding in the MC. I am thankful that he passed away without any pain, and although it was unexpected, I feel fortuante that our memories about him will be without any heath issues that typically come with aging dogs. He was this man's best friend!

So I encourage all of you that have a special relationship with your 4 legged pal, to pat them on the head and give them that little extra TLC.......he/she derserves it!

In fond memory.....Blazer

Your best friend...That is so true.
To your family and specially to you Kell,my condoleances.I can understand what you're going trough and it's tough.
Keep the best memories of him,he was the best dog in the world!
Gotta go walk Rexell now...Let the time pass, then spring will come and maybe you'll feel the need to find a new puppy that will bring joy and laughs wherever you take it...
Take care!

One last thing...Remember:

Kell,

My heart goes out to you for the recent loss of your dog Blazer, I personally know what your dealing w/ as I'm sure anyone who has owned a pet knows.

I had a Rottweiler named "Bear" since a pup and he passed away 6/11/01, he was 14 yrs old. He was my best friend, he and I were inseparable.

After his passing, I wrote a tribute in our local newpaper in his memory. It helped me express my loss for him and deal w/ the hurt I was expericencing at the time. It too 2 years dealing with the grief and loss of "Bear", before I found another friend.

Blazer and you will be in our thoughts and prayers ...

Sorry to hear about your loss. I know how you feel. I had to have my Natalie put to sleep on Nov. 12 of this year. She had turned 14 years old and was in too much pain to watch her suffer.

She loved going to the lake and floating on her pool float or lounging on the ski platform. I posted a pic of her and my 2 daughters earlier in the post but I will repost so you don't have to go back and look. This was her last trip to the lake.

Jimmer... "Rodman" seems to know when he is gonna get to go with me ( which he thinks should be everytime/everywhere).
I don't know how or why, but he seems to know the times he is going to get put in the garage instead.. I jingle the keys, say "lets go" ( magic words) and he is no where to be found.. He hides very well.. ONCE I could not find him and had to leave.. He was waiting at the window when I came back... And they say animals aren't smart... Right...

I am a big rabbit hunter but... as they say that dog wont hunt.
I adopted her from the shelter the man that had her before abused her and that pissed me off. so i brought her home, then my mother "stole" her and yes she eats better than I do. My mom says she is the only kid she has left. Guess I'm just out on my @$$

Ok, I'm a brand spankin' new MC owner (X9 60 days away...) but I recalled a picture of my lab Duke who, as you can see, is completely embarrassed. I know some of you are saying it because he hopes that his dog friends don't see him with those 'boat shoes' on, but trust me when I tell you.... he is embarrassed that his owner bought a Malibu and not a Mastercraft first time around! Anyway.. enjoy...

Here is Saddie on Christmas Day, we had 7" of snow (on the Texas gulf coast) she had no idea what to think about all that white stuff. Yup, that is my yellow lab Duke. No mix, he has papers and is an awesome dog. I wish I had a clever response fo the boat shoe remark, but I don't... lets just say my 4 year old boy is short a few pair of gym socks - and he really did put up a tantrum when he saw Duke with them on! What can I say... I'm a little anal when it comes to my vynal.

As for the Malibu, I think I just got a bad one. I'm on my 3rd MDC, have had 2 different dealers work on it and they can't seem to figure out what is wrong or why it keep eating them. Malibu has been gracious enough to cover the costs... but! Gauges haven't worked since the day I pulled it off the lot - tach, speedo, water temp, horn... all intermittently... you get the idea. The boat rides awesome and the engine is solid - that I love. It's just hard when you spend that kind of money, use it 3-4 months a year and have that many issues. I'm hoping my new choice will prove to be worth the extra $$!!!

Thanks for the nice comments!

We have a new puppy coming to our family on April 15th (tax day :( ), but we are all very excited about having another 4-legged companion. We unexpected lost our Golden in November of 04, and even though I miss Blazer dearly, I wanted my children to grow up with a puppy. We found a yellow lab breeder near our home. My wife and I picked it out on Thursday, but we took the kids today so they could "pretend" they picked the pup out. The breeder had written numbers on the pups tummies, and my daughter picked no. 5 (which was the dog we picked out previously), and her reasoning was she was 5 years old, the pups were born on the 3/5, and the pup had 5 on his tummy, then she gave me a high-five, so there is something special about this pup right from the get go!

We have not named him yet, but my daughter wants to call "him" Princess Muffin! :) My daughter is all about pink as you can guess.... my little princess. My 2 year old boy, was more interested in the chickens in the back yard!

quick story
we took the kids camping a couple of weeks back and had our yorkie puppy with us
they love him, he irritates me.
it was a 3 ring circus loading all the gear and boat and kids to head home and we/I forgot the dog!
naturally the only senior citizen with a 20ft 30yr old camper within a hundred miles is in front of me on this two lane for ten miles while I have crying kids in the truck!.
FINALLY got to the campground, upset the other senior citizen who was working the gate when I went in-the-out. got 2 corps of engineers girls slowspeed chasing me thru the campground only to find dummy playing by the water like we were never gone.
all this for the dog I claim to dislike

I had posted a pic of my dog from last summer at the lake floating on a pool float. She was 14 years old and that was her last trip to the lake. She had to be put to sleep in Nov. She was so much like me, her biggest joy was seeing that boat being pulled out of the garage and equipment being loaded.

However it is time for a new baby in the house. I am now introducing Lexi.

Did you guys know a Mike McCracken? Electrical Engineer should have been there around the same time. I know it's a huge school, but it's worth asking.

Very cute puppy Jay!
Will he be allowed in the boat ?
He better LOVE the boat because he won't have a choice. No, he already loves the water, but has not been exposed to a boat. We'll see how that goes next weekend.
