I would really appreciate it if someone with more knowkedge than me in the area of wiring a dual battery setup would take alook at a quick block diagram I made of my installation.
Batter Position 1 is the engine starting battery. It will also provide the power for the gauges, bilge pumps, ballast pumps, computer, fuel pump, etc.... Battery Position 2 will have 2 Blue Top Optima D34Ms wired in parallel. They will be hooked up only to the stereo. I also want to wire in a battery isolator and battery switch.
All the wiring for both batteries will be 0 AWG power and ground wires.
Thank you in advance for helping me out.

If you have a West Marine catalog they have a very clear diagram and directions on how to install a dual battery system.

I think this link will get you to that page. (http://www.westmarine.com/ecatalog/index2.html?rfx_page=636&LinkBackProdId=91533)

I think you want the alternator connected to the battery switch and not the isolator. I'm using a combiner in my setup (http://www.yandina.com/c100Info.htm), which may be different than an isolator.
I've attached my diagram, hope it helps.

Ski King -
Thanks for the link. It took me to the West Marine catalog page for battery switches. There is some verbage regarding dual battery setups but I have not read it yet. I was really looking for a block diagram showing a dual battery setup with an isolator and battery switch. I have not found that yet in the WM catalog. I think I will walk to my local WM store at lunch and ask them. They are only 3 blocks away.
I know the old (10 years ago) West Marine catalog had a block diagram showing all the wiring hookups for this type of setup.

Does anyone else have any comments regarding the correct wiring for a dual battery setup with an isolator and battery switch. I know there are alot of people on here that have fairly large stereos. I would assume most people are running this setup.
I really want to hear your comments.
Thanks,

Try the catalog link thingy and page back about 8 pages or so for your diagram.

Google dual battery diagram

I think your diagram is ok, but you will have to remember to switch back and forth to keep batteries charged.

I am also thinking of adding another Battery. Does anyone have a list of parts I will need to buy to do this. Any good recommendations on where to buy this stuff?
