Just curious, has anyone tried putting some GT40 heads on their 351 W powered MC? I am curious what the power difference really feels like. Anyone??

I have been wondering the same myself. I know mine is rated at 240hp and the ones with the HO heads ar 285hp.

The heads sell new for $695 per head!!
An entire new short block with the heads sells for $3350.
Next step is $5580 for new PCM engine complete head, manifolds, risers, carb etc.

I know I will probobly be due for a rebuild in a year or two. Trieing to decide which way to go.

Before you buy or try this, check on:
1. oil and water passages line up with the present block
2. do you need an updated camshaft, push rods, to work with the heads
3. will my stock fuel pump be enough so that the boat doesn't run lean and risk burning a piston or valve.

Just a few points to take into consideration before putting your hard earned dollars to work. Give Indmar a call. I bet they would be glad to help. Good luck with the hp increase.

What's the difference between the GT-40 heads and the HO heads?

Bret's on it. I've been told before, that if you put new performance heads on an old engine you not only will not see the best increase but will also cause problems in the lower end. Check deep into your specific situation prior to trying this on your baby!

GT40 heads say "GT" right on them. At least, mine do...

The engine also is called an "HO". 285hp, carb
