OK

I have read several persons on here who learned to, or have skied on a World Team Comp. Just thought it would be cool to find out who all have skied on this stick.

I'm pretty sure my friend had one in the eighties that I skied on! Back when 66 was my size!

learned on one, but it was probably an early 90's stick.

A little history on the WTC, The original early 80s version was stolen(along with our boat), I found his cousin at a play-it-again sports and scooped it up. The bad thing about this one is that it was set up for left foot forward....doesn't work so well with my right foot forward style.

Pops bought the original from Oshmans and it was mismarked (the only way we could have afforded it in 81/82) I think he bought it for like 20 bucks. He had the baddest ski on the lake.

First slalomed dropping a ski from a pair of Performers Combo's.

First deep water start on a World Team Comp.

Early 80s.

I suppose I really learned to slalom on a World Team. But skied one as a kid. We still have the Team Comp in the family, still in perfect condition. The world team is beat a battered. Oh, what a ski bag can do.

I learned on a pair of Eagle Combo's, but once I learned to slalom I skied my mom's Connely (light blue on the top) ... 1981 or 1982 behind a beachcraft jet boat (long rope)

It was my first non wood ski. Still have it and it is very beat up but is still used from time to time. It now has a stars and stripes paint job on it.

I skied a friends World Team many, many years ago before I bought my first EP. Was a solid ski for that time period, about 1980.

I loved option #4 :uglyhamme You Rule Lakey!!! I was just thinkin I was due to start a poll here.... Im gonna have to think of a semi good topic to post on.

I leaned to slalom on one of those beasts. Liiiiiiiiime green baby!!!! I still have one somewhere. Its an ol beater of a ski, I think its up in my garage rafters. From what I can tell, those world team comp were virtually identical to that Obrien International Freestyle II that I had in my winter swimsuit pic. Those skis look like the same ski with different graphics. I still got em both. In fact my buddy skid that Comp for a while last year for fun.

If it has 2 handle strikes in the blue area, it's mine!! my brother "lost" the ski in 1988.

I was checking out my overtons catalogue last night and saw that you can get a new world team comp that is 75" long. Holy Cow!

Yea, thats a long stick. I wonder how it rides? I mean if its meant for larger skiers, wouldnt wider be better?? I would think they would be better off with a 71" HO Magnum or something like that.....hmmm it would be interesting to find a big skier and have him try both to compare......

Ya know I wanna get my dad back on the ski this year. His old wooden is retired, so I was gonna put him on my old Kidder Cruiser 72" its wider for larger skiers. Its a decent ride as I rode it when I was in the 275-300 range for weight. I see those comps are decent price, and I was thinking if I was able to get him on the ski again and he got the fever, I could get him a 71" magnum or a 75" Comp as he is a BIG skier. First trick is to convince him to ski again.

Hey UMP take AirJunky's advice and get a SkySki....that is what I am working on my pops to pick up, the price tag is the only hold back at this point. I keep telling him that he will love it....and I want to ride it.

Lakey, Yea, I am half tempted to try one of those things. I am gonna try to do it this summer. I know of a few guys that have some a few hours from me that said I could drive down to try one and ski with them someday this summer. I hope to get to try it. As far as my dad, He said he aint even thinking about skiing until he loses some weight. He is afraid he is going to get injured be trying to get up on skis with his weight. He hasnt skied in like 10 years or so. My goal is to get him up on skis again.....

A friend's father found one identical to the picture (scratches and all) floating down the Missouri river. I drank a lot of dirty water learning to get up on one with it. :headbang:

my dad first got hooked on teh world team after he road my cousins... after that he bought one, and i used his world team after learning on an obrien "amigo"....
anyhow after a couple of weeks i got off of it onto a 68 inch seige, then onto my brand new 66' seige mapple.
