Me again..
94 Maristar V-drive.. The flanges where the V-drive attaches to the prop shaft, have 6 or 8 holes in them.. My boat only had 4 bolts holding them together.. Is 4 correct, or should I have bolts in all the holes????

I only have 4 bolts in mine, but mine only has 4 holes. I would assume if there were more holes there should be more bolts... I would (just in case) fill the remaining holes (there has to be a reason they are there).

I think the v drive owners need to chime in. I wouldn't add something it doesn't already have because that'd be a guess at best, a call to the mastercraft dealer will set you right w/ no questions remaining.

Mine only has 4 and they all have bolts. See the pic a couple of posts down concerning engine alignment.

Rick,
8 holes, 4 bolts. Interesting, purpose? Maybe to help align?? Maybe a Walter thing. I seem to remember you had trouble w/ the Walters V drive? Did you have to remove / repair? What happened, the thing seems tuff enuff to last the lifetime of the boat?

The only problem with the Walter V-drive is it leaks oil out of the output shaft seal.. Maybe only 1/8 of a qt. all season, but I just hate oil in my bilge or dripping out of my drain plug on my garage floor....
I started to pull it out and found out the ENTIRE V-drive has to be taken apart and reassembled to install this 3 dollar seal.. I am too busy with my Harley and my Convertible right now to get involved with another project that could accelerate in $$.. I have ordered an oil aborbent towel to lay under it to absorb any oil....
So now you know the rest of the story..........
