Hey, we have all kind of picture threads but none specific to skis and boards. It is always fun to see what other uses.

I was boared last weekend as the weather is so cold and the boating season is still so far away here :( that I went in the shed and unbagged my ski just to dream about warmer days. Good therapy... :D

Here is a picture of our skis mine (HO Truth / Bios) my wife (KD evolution / Targa) and my kids (mapple 61 / Transfer).

Back flip. I have another older kneeboard I am going to use this year. I can complete the flip but I am not ready for the landing. I have pics of the landing but I slide outside the wakes and cannot hold on. I flip and slowly sink into the water after the landing. Just began last year but at 20 I could do flips regularly. are you doing that manuever on purpose just to show off what a cool wakeboard you have HB???

OK, heres a pic of my Bicentennial O'brien. The standard bottom color at that time was lime green(as in the pics of my Intl freestyle in the spring thread). and bindings were blue and green. so they made this in red, white, and blue in 1976 . Here is the pics. I picked this up on ebay a few years ago. I think its too cool. I never skied on it, I just got it cuz it was cool. The ski literally looks like it was never skied on. It has some dents on the top but,The bindings are PERFECT. I mean PERFECT!!!! literally NO wear at all. I hope you enjoy!!!

The Maheraja will up on Ebay in about a month. The Obrien Comp is free to anyone who wants it.

I know, I know...the tubes  . I picked up one for $5 at a garage sale, the other I bought off a guy, new for $20 - it's steerable like a kneeboard with fins and all. I figure it will be a good step for my son.
Maybe that should go in the blog - I feel funny owning tubes. I have yet to waste gas and energy taking a ride in one of them or the combos. Maybe this summer. The LF board ins't really mine...yet.

The binding has a 9 stamped into the aluminum plate. Let me know if your interested. I have a pretty good feel for used values of skis, but not Maherajahs. I have never see this graphite (not wood mind you) ski on ebay of ski-it-again.

Its like me and Eastie with our guitars, we like to see pictures of other peoples guitars too. Same with skis.

Eastie, I have never seen a long ski like that. Whats the deal? why so long? what does it ski like? does it handle at all? or is it just a plank to ride? Thats interesting!!

This (http://www.mahaskis.com/skis_racing.html) pretty much says it all. Mine is the recreational version. I believe the prices quoted are for the racing version. I didn't pay that much in October 2003. But Bob hand makes these skis as ordered these days. You call him up and pick everything right down to the graphics. Then he goes to work and you get it when he's done.

Basically, when it's choppy, you hop on this bad boy, drop a 150 foot line in the water (included with the ski), and crank the boat up to about 40 mph. You carve the turns; you don't ride the tail. It's a great ride.

I absolutely love the bindings. If you have considered it just bite the bullet and pull the trigger. You will not be disapointed. A little spendy but worth every penny. Mine were demos (don't think they ever hit the lake or were mounted though) and saved $200. Give Paul a call and he will fix you up. Also spend the extra $$ on the FMX plate. Makes them easier to instal and adjust. I don't have the plate but whish I would have bought it.

I am liking the Monza as well. Took a little while to get used to the new set-up but now I am very happy with it. Wicked Fast. :D

Are those from Bennetts, Brian? If so, I'm a huge fan of their demo'd stuff. The Demo ASX I bought my wife 2 years ago was $199 and not a mark on it. Ended up selling it for what we paid for it a year later.

how much water width can you cover on that much rope?

east tx skier
03-03-2006, 03:58 PM
You know, I've never thought about how wide on the boat I got. At 43 mph, probably something similar to a regular ski at 34 mph. What's cool is how disconnected you feel from the boat. You don't really even hear the engine unless you listen for it.

What's funny is that the ski is recommended for rough water. But with my boat, at that speed, in rough water it's hell on the driver.

Also, it can be a bit tricky to get up deep water on. Riding it is different, too. You're very upright on it.

Kevin 89MC
03-03-2006, 04:08 PM
That does look like fun. Looks like the equivalent of skiing the green or blue hills, when you can just lean back and put it on cruise control. I'm sure good communication with the driver is important - turn too quick with skier inside, and you'd sink pretty quick!

east tx skier
03-03-2006, 05:00 PM
That's never been much of a problem. At above 40 mph, you're cooking along pretty well. The communication problems are on getting the slack out and getting started.

I equate it to riding a longboard in surfing (only surfed once), but thats what it seems like to me.

Just cruising.

I have been scanning ebay lately. Picked up a few good deals. Or at least what I think were good deals. I got the tricks for $130 and I got the freecarve for $65 and thats with shipping costs included on both. I am really eager to get out on tricks agian, I havent skied on a set in about 15 years. I picked up the Freecarve with several intentions, (plus the price was right) I want to try to ski it myself for fun, I want it for a trainer slalom, and I hope to eventually get my girlfriend and my cousin on it, and they are both about the size that ski wourl work well for. plu its just another ski to have for smaller skiers, or whatever. Plus I want to get my mom and dad out skiing again this year, and it would be a good fit for my mom. it even has the sticker on it from new!! so here are The new arrivals:

EP Comp X2? Circa ~late 70's?

My buddy had a ski just like that EP. Identical. Someone gave it to him. When his old Obrien Int Freestyle bindings rotted out, he took the bindings off that EP and put them on the Obrien. Then the front EP binding ripped, so he bought a new Targa and put on there, so I dubbed the ski "Frankenski" and the name stuck.

Coming off wood-inlay O'Brien in 1979, that Comp X2 was amazing. Sort of had to get up on the nose of it to make it turn quick, but I loved it. I still have it. Three years ago I pulled it out when we were doing some late season (Nov) hop-starts from the beach.

Yikes! Very spooky. I put it back in the bag and I've since quit trying to talk my kids into using it. :)

Funny story: The first time I skied the course about '92, I showed up with that ski and...well lets just say a near-matching yellow ensolite vest with orange stripes. My new-found friend with a SN and course laughed pretty hard until I skied through 15 off at 34 mph....first pass ever. I got the used Stilletto a few weeks later and skied a 22 off. Sadly, have only been through the course about 3 dozen passes since that summer.

I love that ski...

They all ski really well for me, the Connelly (F3 which is the same as the current concept) is a bit short these days being that its a 66.

The FM (www.jagersport.com) bindings are awesome I've been very nervous even in the plain style high wraps that are on the concept because i've been injuring my ankles regularly, since the FM bindings I've not had that issue.

Not taken any really good wipe outs yet but have had a few releases on OTF falls and I definately feel better about it using those.

The white is only on the 9200 Limited, think southern skiers wanted one in that color (perhaps since older black goodes were ballooning in the sun). But they made that model which i bought used through the same company as the bindings and has proven to be a very good ski.

I sold my HO board to go toward boat parts (long story) to a newly found MC owner in HB. Since I almost always ski, and always have another board in my posession - I didn't need one.

But, got this DoubleUp Greg Nelson board so cheap I couldn't pass it up knowing I could get some matching blue bindings for cheap too. Plus, I had this gothic chrome MC decal and it had to go on something. I just got the bindings today and look forward to seeing what the cupped tails will do for me.

I hope the better board will help my sorry skills.

I have told my wife this so I am not afraid to post this...

She is nearly 24 weeks along at this point. At around 18 weeks I noticed that her sense of humor had increased as well as her general level of common sense. At 20 weeks we found out she was carrying a boy! Coincidence?!? I think not. :uglyhamme

Her memory had been suffering though, but that is normal during pregnancy.

You'll find out one day UMP!

They are/were the same bags - different embroidery. My Obrien Contacts are super tall, has anyone tried stuffing their Contact bindings into one of these bags? They haven't fit in any bag I've tried. And I tried a lot of bags when I took my ski in to the local ski shop -- the one they didn't have was this KD/MC bag.

88 PS190
06-01-2006, 09:47 AM
they'll fit if you have that model bag, notice how much extra height is in the bag, that one should even fit my hardshells, which suffice to say are not squishable, either way, w/ the wileys on that it looks like you could put a vest in above the bindings in the bag.

it's an obrien seige mapple- they don't make it under the same name any more.

Wow, tell me more....is it still new. or new old stock or what? I have never seen nor heard of those before. Whats it a hybrid of the two skis? what year is it?

Talk to me Goose.

you'd have to ask my brother 88 ps 190 because he was "very instremental" in the finding of it.

it was apparently old stock, but has never been used. it also has piezo dampening. up until i got it for my birthday i had been skiing on a regular siege, which is more flexible, had a cheap front binding and rtp, not to mention it being 2 inches to big for me.

88 PS190
06-02-2006, 03:30 AM
regular siege is a less stiff lay up of the mapple siege, which is the mapple ski.

since mapple is no longer with obrien they're no longer available brand new. but many ski stores (wileys etc.) have such skis around because they end up that way.

Upper Michigan Prostar190
06-02-2006, 10:22 AM
so the Mapple was originally called a Siege Mapple?? then changed to a "Mapple" later....? what year was that "Seige Mapple" produced??

88 PS190
06-02-2006, 11:41 AM
technically the latest mapple was a siege anyway.

over the years Obrien made numerous skis in the "siege" line up. They had different features and models. Eventually with mapple on board they started calling their top models "mapple siege" and then when they kinda got out of the siege thing the top one just became a Mapple Signature Ski. The grey and red ski pictured is the same tunnel and lay up with a few features that aren't on the new mapple, such as the piezo dampening which I'm not sure if they really decided it did much, or was just a cool little LED on the tip that glowed if you had chatter.

Its not worth being confused but the ski like cam's was just changed in graphics and small features up until they phased the Mapple out.

Ie. same ski, different graphics, and little tweaks they added.
