Hey guys...I hope this is allowed...My local MC dealer has a 2004 Sammy Duvall 197 with zero hours they want to sell badly. My wife wasnt into the red unfortunately. 350 mcx, PP, etc...great looking boat I think!!! I can get you the sales info on the boat if you are interested. Also they have a yellow 2005 197; if I remember it has a yellow hull and yellow lettering. Honestly I'd buy either but we found a 2005 TT, the black hull and accents and just fell in love with it. I have nothing to gain form any of this, just thought maybe there was someone out there looking for a new 197 without a new price. I'm gonna try to included a pic of the sammy...

Good looking boat....there are a few 04 197's left around here also.....did they change something that made the boat less desireable that model year?

I don't think so...I think its the last year that there was a Sammy Duvall editon as well...my wife just wasnt into the red or a I would have swooped it up immediately.

Pretty boat. Since this thread will vanish from the front page eventually, you might want to put a link to it in the marketplace.
What a beautiful boat! Funny, my dealer doesn't have any 197's on the floor and this guy has 2 that are over a year old!!

I dont think there's anything funny about that...lol...nah to add to that, originally I wanted to test a 209 and the dealer couldn't get one to take me out. I really wanted a 209. But things changed and I ended up getting finding the 197 TT and I was accepted to a local ski club here, which they try to keep limited membership, so the 197 will work great. I tried for months though to get them to get access to a 209...months I say...

I'd have probably driven to kentucky for a deal on that sammy! :steering:

I talked to the sales man the other day and he was so discouraged...said he hasn't had anyone even look at it...I told him posting it on his website is not enough...I told him there were people out there dying to get a hold of boats like this, he just need to get a little proactive...I think things like this happen when dealers who sell 99% strendrives pick up Master Craft or Natiques.

So what's the price?

The dealer HAS had people looking at it. Maybe if they were in the realm of reality on the price, or they would have treated my family even slightly courteously when we were in their showroom, it would have been in my boat house right now. I will say, it is a most awesome craft. IIRC, no powerslot, and the PP is only cruise, otherwise, it is sweet.

You know I find it interesting that 2 different people can go to the same dealer and get 2 completely different views of their experience.
Case in point, here we have NTIDSL who is trying to help this guy sell a boat and then we have Lotta who wouldn't buy it from him.
What is the reasoning behind all of this? I know that not everyone is on their "A" game everyday, but that shouldn't produce the extreme differences that we hear about on here. I mean this is the same dealer. Not trying to pigeon hole this dealer, I have experienced it myself from the former Dealer in Atlanta.

Maybe the fact that THIS dealer has a 2 year old new boat is why YOUR dealer doesn't have any? Let's face it direct drives are a dying breed. (drop bomb and run)

I dont know...if you noticed that boat isn't at a dealer, they actually brought it to me to see...dealers are weird and have bad days...then they get desperate to sell boats...I agree with lotta, they were overpriced...but now they'd thake anything I think...Lotta, if you were intersted i can give you another salesperson name, but if you refuse to work with the whole company, I can understand that too...I've done that with car dealerships...

I think I opened a whole can of worms here...hey lotta...im gonna pm you cause I think you ski with some people I'm gonna ski with this year...and I'm with you on the dealer, the first time i walked in there I had to go to the service desk to even catch someones eye...but then I ended up knowing her and she contacted a salesman down in kentucky that I knew as well. He called me instantly and hasn't let up yet. I was bumbed about not trying the 209 but for crap sake I can't wait months, you know...

I am not going to dealer bash on here. I am sure that will get me kicked off. I am sure all dealers have their horror stories as well as their triumphs. Lets just say, my foot won't step in their door again.

Well I think we have all experienced it (and with all brands)
I didnt like having to remind my MC salesman that he was looking for a boat for me after several calls and face-to-face meetings, but he did end up being the guy to price me right and take care of me when the transaction got wierd.
Funny,
I had a nautique salesman promise to call me the next day after we sat down and worked up a 206 order boat(never heard from him).
about a year later, a different guy from the same dealer left vm for me @ my office to talk about the 206(gladly, I had long since bought my new prostar). For grins, I returned the call and had to leave VM for him to call me back.... never heard from him again... (maybe in about a year, he will call again?)
The supra dealer called me twice a week (or more) for months when I kept telling him to price it like a supra instead of pricing it like a MasterCraft and we'd have a deal. :uglyhamme

Not trying to get anybody all stirred up or kicked off the board, I am merely making an observation. I am not trying to start bashing dealers, just trying to understand how one person can have experience that was great and another that was miserable. However, in reading NTIDSL's post
the first time i walked in there I had to go to the service desk to even catch someones eye...but then I ended up knowing her and she contacted a salesman down in kentucky that I knew as well. He called me instantly and hasn't let up yet.
my question was answered.

I am still waiting on the CC dealer to return my calls too...And the BU dealer...total chaos. My wife used to work for a CC dealer and told me story after story about crap that would go on around there...from there on out I never expected alot from boat dealers. The CC salesman actually just saw me at the local boat show and just said..."hey how ya doing Doug"...he didnt ask me if I bought a boat, ever test rode the 206 anywhere else or nothing...just "hey!!"

you know, I dont know why it hasn't sold...like I said a million times now, my wife just didn't want a red boat right now...she loved the black 197 TT from 2005 and there was no changing her mind...Hern also has a yellow hull and stripe 2005 197.
Hey by the way...can I jack my own thread...when did you decide to have mag fest...

I looked on the Hern marine website...they list that boat at 49K....isn't this a bit high for a boat 2 model years old if they really want to move it?????
I'm not real up on new boat prices...I've always shopped used....

They tried to get me in that boat at the 2005 boat show. We worked numbers for a good half hour on it at the show but the timing just wasn't good for us then. I called them mid summer before I bought my 95' to see what 197's they had in stock and they tried to get me to but this one big time. I was quoted $35,000 out the door at the boat show, I offered them $34k over the phone this past summer and they told me I was nuts and wouldn't sell it for less than 39k. I said thanks anyway  Bet they wish they would have sold it then

Yup...its a shame to let a boat sit becasue they are want more for it...soon it will have depreciated completely out and still have zero hours on it...sooner or later they'll have to take a crazy offer...

I really wouldn't know that...East Texas or Ric would probably know...I think due to the fact that it may be the last new Sammy available, I'd say priceless...personally I wouldn't pay a premieum for it though...It is georgeous though...and new...
