Should get a handgun.

What ever you get be sure you are comfortable with it. Have work done on it if you want.
I have my trigger pull lightened to 1 pound and hammer extended 1/4".

I am storing both an Anaconda & and a Python stainless? for a buddy.. Both 6" barrells.. They are sitting next to my King Cobra 4" barrell. Less than 50 rds through any of them.. LIKE NEW....

He might want to sell?? Let me know...

You'll never go wrong with a Ruger. Make sure you write the serial# down and store it in a safe place (in case of theft). Only way to track. Found out the hard way with a Glock about 4 months ago.

I wish you guys had not brought up the colt snake series. I've always wanted the entire collection, and just when I thought that it was out of my mind, I get pulled back in.

I have a few CZ's and love them. Dumped my revolvers but want the Python for sure. I have also heard a ton of positives regarding the Ruger. I also went through a Taurus phase. Seemed like a good gun for a May baby. :D This is my 4th Ruger product. Very sweet guns. Good shooters and reasonably priced.

Very nice...I like to see her trigger fingers on the frame and not the trigger, too

We picked ours up about a month ago. The wife can't get enough of the Kimber :D (thank goodness I don't live in SF)

Very nice pieces.
I think my favorite revolver to have around the house was the 454 Casull. It has a new home now since the range wouldn't allow it anymore. And I don't think it would have ever been my first choice to grab in a home defense situation.

I recently purchased a S&W model 500 with the 8" barrel...I have no idea why...I just wanted one after reading this.
the .454 Casull, which will generate about 1900 ft.-lb. The 500 S&W Magnum will produce almost 2600 ft.-lb. with its heaviest load

Uh, yeah, might be a bit too much. The Smith is our HD handgun (using 38 spl jhp's), but not until we've both had more training, including a self-defense handgun course and much more time on the range...at that point we'll decide if we want to keep a loaded handgun in the house...

Thats full auto. Plum stupid in a handgun. just my :twocents:
45 is not my first home defense choice. I use a 22 mag for that. Not as loud. ;) Never have been to a range. We live on a large farm and shoot here. We problably shoot 200-300 rounds a week in the summer.

If I blasted 200 rounds in a week out in the yard here, you'd be reading about me on the internet.......And it wouldn't be for polluting the ground...

I think I am a little more violent. If I want to make someone pay it will not be with a gun. The gun establishes the advantage, the repeated blowes with a baseball bat and anything else I can find makes them wish I had shot them! :D  Thats full auto. That is a lot of shooting, I don't think I have shot 300 rounds in all of my life. I haven't even pulled a trigger in 15 years. All of my guns are at my mom's house in TN.
