I am sure that this topic has been discussed several times. However, I have been looking at slalom skis & was looking for some suggestions.
I am an intermediate slalom skier at this time. However, I have not dedicated much of my ski time to becoming a better slalom skier. I plan to spend much more of my time slalom skiing & thus, I hope to improve. I do not ski a course at this time.
I would like to find a ski that I can grow into at this point. Any suggesstions would be helpful. Also, is there a standard sizing chart? I am 6'1" & 220lbs. & have thought that I probably need to be on a 68 or 70.

I'd say give an HO Vengeance (ASX) a try. Size 70".

you may want to contact your local dealer and see if you can demo some skies...something I need to do myself. B

What are you riding currently? How does the ski feel? That sort of thing, also what does intermediate slalom mean to you? It can be interpretated a few ways.

Good points 88PS190 :toast: I agree. Especially on the what your definition of intermediate slalom skiing is. ALright, I went through this last summer with the same thing. I dont ski a course, I just free ski. But I like to ski to the best of my abilities and improve. I wanted a new ski. I skied a 68" Obrien Siege(a good ski) but wanted something different. I got alot of advice from the fine people here on this board. I went with a 67" HO Vengeance with Double animal boots. Excellent ski. It pushed me forward quite a bit further than I was on the Siege. I felt more comfortable and in comand of the ski. I would recommed this in a 69" ski for you or possibly an HO Triumph 69". Both would be good choices if your looking for a recreational ski that still has some performance.
But please answer us the questions that 88PS190 asked, that will help everyone determine what would be a good ski for you.
Hope this helps!!! :toast:
Keep us posted!!!

At the present time, I have been using whatever my ski-partners have in their boat. However, since I have just puchased my first MC, I am buying my own. I understand how the intemediate classification is a fairly gray area. I free-ski @ the present time & thus, cant use the course as a measurement. I would simply say that I am aggressive in my approach to free-skiing. Intermediate to me is much more than simply riding the ski. Although I dont ski the course at this time, I approach each set as if on a course - hope that makes sense????

WIth your description in mind, I think the HO Vengeance would be a great choice for you. You might be able to find a left over 2005 model at an HO dealer. Give Wiley's a call www.wileyski.com and see if they have any left over. They are great to deal with and have very competitive prices. Another option would be the HO Triumph too. Either HO animal boots or Venom boots would be great for you. the animal boots are right and left foot specific(they have arch supports) and feel great on your feet.
YOu can also watch ebay for these skis to pop up too. Let us know what you decide. :wavey:

A few comments I have: I would try to demo a few skis before buying them. I was doing the same thing as you back in '97. Had just got the boat, no ski, had been using whatever ski I could. My local MC dealer had a good demo plan - any ski for the day for $20 or so, with all money spent on demos able to be applied toward purchase of a ski at their shop. I probably paid a bit more than I would have at Overtons, etc, but the "free" demo esperience was well worth it. I tried 5 IIRC, and at the time the KD7000 was by far the best, at least for me. I'm thinking about doing this again, it's 9 years old already!
Good luck, and ski before you buy!

Rich, we can then use your truck for getting to the dock at the course, remember we need to go to attach it to the shore...
