I know this is going to sound silly but how do I pull the plugs on my inmar 351? The socket is to long, there has to be a way without pulling the exhaust header, right!

Use a box wrench.

But it's the only way I have found to get them out quickly. If you have a spare spark plug boot or wire, use the boot to spin in off after you get it loose. You only need about 3" of the wire sticking out.

I was able to find a swivel spark plug socket at Sears. I first tried adding a swivel adaptor to my spark plug socket but it was to long. Then I found at Sears a Spark Plug Swivel Socket all in one. It fits under the exhaust manifold and makes it much easier to pull the plugs.

on my 285 ho I got a box wrench with a shorter handle. this helped quite a bit.

I used the box wrench, cleaned the distributor and she fired the first time. One hour later we were on the lake. Gotta love it!

That rear-port side plug is miserable to get out, even with the box wrench.
