Anyone ever "crack" one open? I am thinking about replacing the battery in mine myself. I have details, and I know where to get the battery from. I just want to know if you have done it, or know someone that has.

How is your battery dead already?

I have done it, it is not difficult. I used two guitar picks to sepeate the case, that way I did not scratch anything. My best friend has his girlfriends ripped apart on his desk right now... I can take a pick if you like.

I didn't realize this was an option - where do you get the battery?

AND, IIRC, you can replace the battery with a better one than came with it.

Its two years old already........ Life expectancy as I hear is one year. Some not even that long. I can only get about 5 hours now without having to plug it in.

Sure, post 'em if you got 'em. I was about 2 seconds away from ordering the battery yesterday, but I figure I better ask first.

From all I've read, not a hard thing to do.

SodarSki, didn't realize your name was Cameron. That's my kid's name. Kudos to your parents on a fine choice. :)

Just did my gen3 last week. After 3 years all I could get was about an hour out of the original battery. I bought a Li-polymide 950amh battery off of ebay ($20 shipped) with instructions and two plastic tools for opening the case. I had it completed in about 15-20min and the play time is great.
