Any thread history or discussion on how to extend the exhaust pipes on a 2014 X25? Tired of passengers getting gassed out while sitting on the back seats by the swim deck while watching the surfer.

Search Fresh Air Exhaust. A lot of discussion on it here.

OK, I read through all the discussion, then went to the website for FAE and WOW...that's an ugly addition to the boat!!! I honestly don't like the way it deflects the exhaust down and no doubt that creates a little drag. Is there a way to reduce the exhaust escape between platform and boat while underway just by extending the exhaust pipes straight back without having to go down?? Thanks,

It's a good idea, although I have never seen it done. Sounds like a Custom fab job perhaps?

From what I've read the FAE (or surf pipe as Nautique calls it) puts the exhaust gases in the prop stream which will greatly benefit the rider (surfer)
It should have very little if any effect on drag as it's shaped to carve through the water.

I would think by extending the dual exhaust of your boat to the end of the platform may actually make matters worse for your rider. Most people I've talked to rave about the benefits of FAE.

it looks as though this pipes in well around the additude plate, anyone have history with this?

thanks

Wish it were legal to ride on the back of the boat where I live...may have considered the X23 a little more if it were...however, the FAE I think is your best bet for reasons stated above. It will however make your boat a little quieter also, which you may, or may not like. Personally, I'm looking forward to a quieter boat considering the exhaust drone on my XStar sounded great but eventually got old because that's about all the rider could hear the entire time behind the boat. Plus no gas fumes for anybody is great!

+3 to FAE for the benefits you seek plus reduction in engine noise (bonus stereo upgrade). Can only imagine drag comes into play, if any, should you be slalom skiing which I doubt on an X25?

This is what I'm wondering. Does MC endorse sitting on those rear seats while underway?

I just installed the very newest version of FAE, no to Ugly, it's All one piece now.
I have GEN2 and it does not obstruct.

I lost 1 MPH off top end.
New dbs listed below,
All from helm below windshield
-Idle
-Cruise or Surf
-WOT
Very quiet under normal conditions.
If you throw the Hammer down the Engine still gets loud.

this will help with want you want and easier to here Stereo and Rider vise versa

you need a life jacket on to be back there, is if you were a rider.
No MC does not indorse sitting there underway or with the engine on.

From my understanding Ilmore does not warranty the engine if the FAE is installed though right?

Make sure its not installed when take it in.
Not sure Iimore list FAE specifically as a warranty violation

Ok, so it's not the exhaust fumes for the surfer. It's the exhaust fumes for anyone sitting on the sundeck or on the seats with their feet on the platform underway. Legal or not, I'm not endorsing it, but we do it CONSTANTLY while surfing. Great way to communicate with rider and great way to catch the rope or throw rope back to rider if needed. Fumes are boiling up between the stern and swim deck at 10.2 mph. Yes, those on back always have life jacket on while there.

How does the Gen2 surf wave compare before the FAE vs after the FAE is installed? Does the FAE change the water flow enough to notice?

For Surfing, everything looked the same
Cruising at 25 to 28 mph, you can see a slight rooster where the pipe is dragging through the water. Not very big, and it does not affect the Wake Out at the wake boarding distance

NorCal Mastercraft called MasterCraft on my behalf and they told me FAE does NOT affect the engine warranty.

This is precisely what FAE reduces. It reduces the fumes to the rider and also reduces the CO to passengers( it's called the station wagon effect). Fumes are making it to your passengers. Along with the CO reduction the noise reduction gained by adding FAE also helps people feel less fatigued and experience less of the side effects.

Plain and simple this is THE EXACT PRODUCT to do what you are wanting and looking for.

Looks like it really reduces the size of the pipe that it all comes down to that small output. I would think that would choke off the motor some but from what everyone is saying it doesn't. I realize these are not 2 stroke motors but if you choked one of those down like that it was about kill it!

Had it for two years... love it! does not effect performance or the wake.

This is also my first upgrade in April once I can get the boat out again, the only concern I had is that my swim platform does have some play in it such that it does move a little in the brackets, I worry about it causing the exhaust to move or rip it off. Anyone else have any movement in the platform and FAE, any issues? I am trying to figure out if I can shim the bracket to remove that completely but I am sure that will make it a lot harder to remove the platform. I only remove it to wash/wax and for storage, so only a few times a year. Thanks for any feedback.

I think it is CYA as they do not want to do the long term R&D and QA on FAE units on their motors. Easier to say no.

What does actually happen to the original exhaust flaps when the FAE is installed? Removed? left installed within the pipes? When removed does that increase the risk of airlocking the engine?

This is the quick release version , install time about 60-90 min if all your tools are located before you start:confused:

The '08's had no mufflers. The '09's did. There was a drastic difference between my '08 and '09, and when I bought another '08 2 years ago, I had forgotten how loud the 08's are.
