View Full Version : Newer surf tabs on older x25?

02-18-2016, 01:54 PM
I have a 2011 x25 with the surf tabs and the middle plate as well. Is it possible to change out the older tabs with the newer gen 2 ,x25 specific, tabs? In know the gen 2 works with different software and such but my question is just upgrading the tabs would make a better surf wave. I'm not sure if they would even be able to just be replaced or not.

Check out go surf assist. I have them on my 2011 x25 also.

I see you're "brazosfreak". Where exactly on the Brazos are you? My boats stay on Granbury.

Aric, if you're going to keep posting from your phone, will you please start taking pics in landscape mode as god intended. My neck hurts.

The water was 55 or so degrees. Pass. Lol. My dad surfs when it's 40 degrees out, he's the real man lol

Mike if you don't get your boat out Saturday....

I usually ride Chisholm I grew up on the river down there. I'm fixing to move to Silverado on the Brazos within the year so I'll be going out there in your neck of the woods.
So the surf assist is much better than the stock surf tabs?

Seriously! I go around all day fixing them. I've got about 10:1 pics from Aric on my desktop that I save, rotate and reupload. Such a pain.

100 percent worth the cost. Luckily since you have the old tabs already on your boat, the tab wiring is plug and play. You can control it with your screen just like normal.

GSA is an immeasurable amount better than the stock 2011 tabs. We frequent Tin top a lot now, so if you see me flag me down!

I have pics from just about every jackhole who decides that they need to shoot every pic in Portrait orientation.

So nobody has just replaced their old tabs with new ones?

Well technically they're not available to anyone. Not sure what happened with those, but on the 2013 boats without gen 2, the ordering dealer must provide the vin when ordering the upgrade. I'd be glad to drag you around the lake and show you how GSA works. Plus, you won't need the controller so you will save some coin there.

GSA is a much better design then gen 2. And if you could find them I dare say allot cheaper. I am picking up my boat tommorow with a fresh install. I think Aric is going with me. Now if my power tower will act right

I'm interested in GSA for my 2013 X25. Where can I get my greasy Canadian hands on a kit?

I pick my boat up from the dealership tomorrow. I am strongly considering going for a ride Saturday. Will depend on the wind situation. I am also slightly concerned about the boat no longer being winterized. It will be in my garage that is insulated and is typically 45-50 when it 15-25 out. (I am in the KC metro as well).

Found this on instagram and thought it was interesting. Looks like gen 2 tabs on a pre gen 2 boat.

What data are you citing to support your statement? Seems defamatory. Better design how? Price only?

Aric, You have said a few times, that the system is plug and play and controllable from your screen. When I spoke with GSA last year, it did not seem like it was an easy switch from Gen 1 to GSA. Did you have to work anything out? or is it quite simple? If it is easily integrated, I would be very interested for my 2011 X25.

Thanks for you input!

It is that simple, and I have gsa now, and it is integrated into my 2011 software.

Ryan has taken gen 2 off boats and put his tabs on. That's the only proof I have

I to had it hooked to my screen on my 12 x25. It was easy.

Wake: let's start that gen 1 was given up on in 3 years. Gen 2 came out and is not offered to us gen 1 owners. With almost 4K in ballet listed boat at 250 lbs and custom shaped board I had a hell of a time behind my boat. Even had a coupe guys come out and help me. Got behind other boats and won't mention brands but had a much easier tie and actually decent at the sport. But also ryan will show you modeling that shows the efficiency of gen 1 vs gen 2 vs surf gate vs GSA he is honesly more efficient, the tab design is more thought out the others. And came with a money back guarantee if I was not happy. I know have a longer wave, twice the push, bigger wave with half the ballast in a even distributed boat with no more
Listing. So am i an engineer? Then no. Do I believe it to be a better system then yes. MC has been like Microsoft send it out if it fails change it. I also own a 12 x25 how left out in the cold do I feel with my screen?????? Let's not go there seeing how no dealers in my state or Louisiana or Oklahoma will touch it or update or interface a gps with it. There is your defamatory. Price is pretty steep when you have to pay for one system that was less than then buy a system that works. So it's not price. How ever if I was buying a brand new boat I wouldn't get gen 2 I would take it right to GSA.
