Took the first slalom run of the year yesterday in NE Ohio behind a new X2 and I was really pleasantly surprised, for a good size V-Drive. The boat handles incredible, you'd never think that a V-Drive could handle that well. The wakes were good for rec skiing and at 36mph, running 22off or better it would be pretty nice.

How did I know you would be skiing already? That's great. How does that boat compare to the 205V for slalom wake? Did you happen to wake board behind it?

Captain,

You should know better than to ask if I strapped on a wakeboard........
I took a slalom run at 32, 34 and 36mph at 15off, and it was better than the 205v in my opinion, however, keep in mind that I haven't been out since Nov/Dec of 2005. At 36mph, I'd compare it to a 209 only with a slightly wider table. Shorten the rope to 22off or better yet 28off, and it is a good rec ski boat.
As far as wakeboarding goes, keep in mind that it is only considered "crazy" if you are the only one doing it,...so.... I was out with another guy that wakeboarded it and he seemed to like it. Comparing it to a 210/X10 he said it was a bit smaller, but again, it's hard to compare without having run them back to back.

The handling of that boat is awesome though. I was able to do "s" turns down the lake with one finger on the wheel, and it would turn around in it's own boat length. I am not a v-drive guy, but if I were, I'd be buying!

MC may want to employ you as a sales specialist for this particular model because your words have certainly sold me on this boats capabilities.

Hey, it's Friday. I had to see if you were on your toes. Just don't let my wife read your review or she'll be bugging me to get a v-drive which I DON'T want.

Oh and by the way, I would be skiing already too...you know....if I didn't have to work.

Truthfully, it wasn't very cold. The water temp read at 44 and the air at 54. I think the water temp was a bit cooler, but hey, it was well worth it. The snow is getting ready to move in now for a few, so you may have to wait a couple of weeks for the next opportunity.

Being a 197 guy, I understand your pain, and truth be told, I think my wife would want the X2. It would be a good barefoot boat as well (I know, not what you want to hear). If we had more time and the rain wasn't moving in, I had the line and was ready to pull the trigger. At 39+mph, the wake really flattens out and reminded me of the 209 again.
Try it and see what you think, this is only the opinion of one man!

As soon as I can get my buddy to pull the trigger on one, I will get all the opportunity to get behind one. I'm sure that if we get south this summer we may get the opportunity to ski and board one to see what we think, but my motto remains, 'if the motor isn't in the middle, I don't want it.

Just curious, was your ride a demo or from someone that owns one in the area? I know if that boat is at Berlin this summer my buddy is going to be real jealous.

It was a demo ride for a friend of mine that is considering making the change from an 05 X10 (another nice boat). I'm sure if you think that your buddy would be interested, that MidOhio would be more than happy to demo one for him wherever.
Did I mention how well it drove! (I still can't believe it and never would have until I ran it.)
