Get your mind out of the gutter boys! This past weekend I was changing the oil on my tractor, when I heard my H2 crank up. Before I could get around the house, my wife had taken off with some girlfriends.

I didn't think much about it, until she called and said I needed to bring the tractor down to the lower 40. Seems she didn't quite understand how to enage 4wd.

A few minutes later, I unstuck her and the girls just had to take a picture.

Don't be mad at your wife... it's a disability. Did you know that The Americans With Disabilities act is responsible for new laws in regards to this?

That is cool.

My wife was able to get one of my trucks stuck awhile ago. I wasn't part of the rescue team, we sent the girls to go get her. That was funny....:D

Good to see someone actually using a H2. I didn't know you could actually take them off road. I bet the spinner rims usually get gunked up with mud if you try it.

If she is having trouble with the hummer, you might hook her up with some of the ladies on the swimsuit thread, as I sure they have experience :uglyhamme

The guy I carpool with told me this story of what happened to him last weekend.

His wife calls him. She's about 40 miles away & says "Something is wrong with the excursion. It is making a real funny sound. I think the transmission is shot". He shows up, takes it OUT of 4wd LOW RANGE!. She drove it 40 miles in LOW FREAKIN RANGE and didn't even think about checking that.

He had a rough time getting it out of low range, but did finally. Amazingly, it's still working fine.

I would recomend getting the trany serviced ASAP! Filter and flush isn't that expensive compaired to a tranny rebuild. The fluid has got to be cooked! I would also recomend draining the transfercase and putting fresh fluid in that too!
I cant believe ithe engine didn't cook! Must not have been on the highway.

Wasn't on the highway, but on a 50mph road. I have no idea either how it isn't toast.

I am guilty of something similar. I had a 1998 Chevy 1500 X-cab with push button 4x4(no 4x4 indicator light on the dash). I pulled out of a snowy parking lot onto a very busy state highway so I engaged the 4x4 and got on the road. I was busy talking with my friend and forgot about the 4x4. We drove 115 miles on the interstate in 4 high at 75mph. When I got to the end of the off ramp and made a left hand turn the truck hopped real bad, and I got sick to my stomach. I disengaged the 4x4 and the truck was fine. The weird part is that I never noticed any vibration or sound that is normal when 4x4 is engaged. OOOOPS

AS long as you were not in 4WD Low, the manual says you can go up to 50 or 60 MPH. and if the manual says that, you know its safe to go faster.....

PS I also had a 98 Z71 Ext Cab

Holy crap. My Dodge wouldn't even go 50 mph in 4 low.... much less make a turn of any kind at any speed on pavement!

Hey I don't know what the Rules of Engagement are there, but in the military if you get stuck and require being pulled out the infraction requires the purchase of a case of beer.

correct me if i'm wrong, but if you get a Hummer stuck, don't you have to give a hummer?

As we were coming over snoqualmie last week my wife hit the 4 low button doing 55-60 ... I cringed and hit the 4 high button ... nothing bad happened, but my jaw did drop for a second.

You have to switch into nuetral to go to 4low. It won't go on the fly.

Yeah, but do you trust the computer enough:)

We have automatic tranny's in some of our International 4400's ... if you are going down the freeway at 60 and put it in R nothing happens either (computer override) but untill i "tried" it once I was not absolutely sure.

Yup, it worked fine, but it was on warranty ... the salesman told me it would be fine ... and he was right, the computer does not let you downshift too fast or shift to reverse

Good idea doing it under warranty.....now just hope it works the next time you need it!
