What is that on the gunnel? Looks like a cap of some sort?

since you already started this derail......
I gotta mention those gunnels are built different than mine, mine's got a low shelf with a toe kick area underneath that......is that not typical?

Since his is a 98 & yours is a 91? Yep.
They look similar to the gunnels in my 94.

with it's position on the gunnel it looks like a strange bimini mount or a mount boat fenders slide into. just guessing

the dumb a@# i bought the boat from put rod holders on the side. yeah..... my point exactly. so now i have to live w/ a ski boat with rod holders. any ideas how much it would cost to fill them in?? would it match? the boat was a dam good deal so i wont complain. dont make me send pic of the Humminbird 14"x14" depth finder he mounted to the dash. its a 98 PS 190

A good glass/gelcote guy could make them disapear and you would never know they were there. I would guess 200 a hole.

I once had a dealer tell me he sold a PS190 to an elderly couple on the simple fact that it had a motor box cover for them to sit on while they fished....

What about converting them for something else? how far forwards are they? enough to prevent the rope from hitting something coming out? Could make a catch net for the handle, or even mod it to be where your stern light pole hits. cause on our lake we're supposed to turn on the stern light, but if its in back you can't ski from the pylon, just a thought.

I am sure you dont mind the rod holders when you are behind the boat and grinning ear to ear on a sunny summer day.

that front of the boat is nice because it hold about 4 boxes of tackles, I use the ski platform to keep the fish alive... I just bungee them to the platform... no need for a live well when you got a ski platform... I removed the Inmar and put in a Mariner 50 hp (better for trollin)... if you need any advice to convert yours to s 190 Prostar Ski and Fish Edition let me know........

What about covering them up with some nice billet MC step pads? Looks like a good location and would look factory. I am sure they were available for your year and would look awesome for I would assume less cost. These are at West Marine and they had a bunch of nice options!

Leave the rod holders and add a tuna tower. On the days they aren't biting you can wakeboard from it.
