good evening gentleman, i am currently in the market for a new boat to add to my fleet. i have always purchased the best of the best and i am looking to buy the best wakeboard boat available. i do not have tolerance for inferior quality. normally i would not even consider this kind of vessel , but my son has recenlty taking a liking to the sport. if it were up to me i would buy a cobalt , but my son insists on a mastercraft. i am very respected in my community and need to maintain a certian status in my neighborhood at the lake house. any advice?

Welcome Drbrainey!

You can't imagine how much pleasure we take from questions like you posted! Your son is indeed very smart and the image of the MasterCraft will not let you down. We will need to understand what you are wanting to do with it. Skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, barefootin, etc and how many people you think you will have. Tell us how you think you will use this boat!

To be honest, i'm a little offended by the question.

"i am very respected in my community and need to maintain a certian status in my neighborhood at the lake house. any advice?"

comments like these make me wish I had a friggin' aluminum bass boat.

I love my MasterCraft, and wouldn't want any other comp boat at this point, but come on? People that buy stuff for status is ridiculous. You, my friend need to figure out what's important in life.

You drive a Hummer don't you?

i dont mean to offend you sir, i am confident that your bass boat looks superb parked in front of your trailer home. i am not looking to enhance my already high status. i am simply trying to avoid lowering it with a ridiculous boat parked on my dock.

to answer the other gentleman, my son has not expressed his needs other than wakeboarding. as for myself, i have my own fleet of vessels that suit my needs. unfortunatley they do not suit his or his friends. i would prefer something classy, not outrageously big and easy for a 14 y/o to handle.

Let me guess, your finger nails are extemely clean, you suits are taylored, shirts all dry cleaned, wifes name is Babes or Buffy (and into charity work) and many, many people think you swing both ways.

Buy the kid a Mastercraft, it is the only chance he has of being cool.

So, you are going to let your 14 y/o operate this wakeboard boat? Man, I wish my parents would have bought me a 50K+ wakeboard boat at 14 to cause trouble in.

Anyways, you should go look at the XSTAR, you won't be disappointted. It will provide a big enough wake for your son to hit, provide a big enough hit to your wallet, and it should hit the spot for all the little kids to play on all day. Oh, and it shouldn't tarnish your image too much, just make sure to put it in the boat house each night, or just have your butler throw a tarp over it.

That's the only version they offer now. No single engine option anymore and only the MCX according to the folks on the tour. I was suprised that you can't get dual big-blocks.

This guy is a total and complete tool. He wants a COBALT over a MasterCraft... come on! I am sure it was some kid trying to pull our chains. Either way, anyone that talks about his fleet of vessels is full of crap. His vessels probably consist of an 8' dighny and a few toy boats for the bathtub. I hate people who are pompous like that!

Agreed, you're probably right. Dr. Brainey sounds like Dr. Dumb A$$. Go buy a freakin' X80 with 700 hp. You'll keep your laughable status. I can just hear it at the lake, "What are those guys doing with that boat? What a shame." Good way to ruin if for the rest of us.

NONE of the above, just a plain and simple arrogant, self centered jerk, who is going to turn a 14ish yo punk and his cronnies loose on a body of water with a $80,000ish boat from his fleet of superior quality vessals. I'm leaving this thread now, and won't be back for fear of p------ myself off!

Too funny, thing is, someone with admin privileges could tell you what the IP address was of the guy, and then match it to someone else on the site ... at least that is how it works on a site I have admin privileges on:)

For example, I can look up a user name and see every IP address they have used with that username and when they used it.

Friggin TROLL!!!! If this is a true post we don't want you as a fellow Mastercraft owner! It is people like you that give the impression we are all stuck up and clueless about life! There are some pretty important owners in their own right on this board, but would never approach people in such a condescending manner! gentlemen ( and i use this term loosley) , i am flattered, insulted and amazed at the response to my question. let me explain it to you this way , i have spent a significant amount of time an money on my education and have worked very hard to get where i am. if i want to have nice things and provide them for my family i will do so. if i have to hurt some feelings along the way, so be it. of course i will not allow my son to use the boat unsupervised. either i or his assistant will always be aboard. my reserach has only yet begun, so maybe a mastercraft will not suit my needs. i just want to do my homework and ask a few questions of the people who own them.

While most all of us will highly recommend MasterCraft for most all watersports, there are a few applications where we must recommend a boat other than a MasterCraft.
After carefully reviewing your needs, I recommend one of the following.

gentlemen ( and i use this term loosley) , i am flattered, insulted and amazed at the response to my question. let me explain it to you this way , i have spent a significant amount of time an money on my education and have worked very hard to get where i am. if i want to have nice things and provide them for my family i will do so. if i have to hurt some feelings along the way, so be it. of course i will not allow my son to use the boat unsupervised. either i or his assistant will always be aboard. my reserach has only yet begun, so maybe a mastercraft will not suit my needs. i just want to do my homework and ask a few questions of the people who own them.

You need to ask for a refund on your education, cause um.... you's keeps using the lower case i and um there signifying yer stuuupid.

BUY A REALLY BIG BAYLINER!!!!!!!!!

What's the altitude there? 'Bout 4000'? House on the north or south shore? Sorry for prying but these things affect the type of motor you need (altitude) and the color you should get (south shore get the afternoon sun and a dark boat will get hot!).

Whoever this assumed person is, I bet Dr."DOOKIE" rode the little yellow bus to school with his brother "DOOKIE DODGER" and had their ball bats on their shoulders and their balls in their gloves. Probably was home schooled later in life and had affairs with the teacher and probably from somewhere where a full set of teeth is a family reunion. Reckon his fleet is all them $6.00 plastic Wal-Mart kiddie swimming pools blown into his state from New Orleans by Katrina.

Sorry but if the boat makes the man I have a problem with the Dr. and the son that is his pupil. Most of us purchased the MasterCraft we have today due to the fact that our hard work and determination meant something to us all. My boat is a daily reward not a status symbol. I would beg , borrow and do what ever it took to be behind that boat. I would not have it merely to epitomize my existance and establish rank. We have researched and concluded considering all variables to be the symbol of status that has chosen MasterCraft. We are not against the good Dr. just unable to relate.

So, I see all the bashing, but I'm pretty trusting that people are who they say they are...(not that it really matters, or that I even care who they are...)

So I'm going to cut this guy a little slack and see where it goes...

I think they saying goes: "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME", right?

Dr.,
Simply put, a MasterCraft X80 twin engine will probably suit your needs well. It's an exceptional boat, and quite gorgeous as well!

However, if you're really looking for something that will scream "status", you should consider a Riva. If you go over the hill to the Tahoe Boat Company, I'm sure they'd be able to point you toward some for sale. They run a bit more than the MC...a Riva Aquarama Special will run you about $200-300k.

In addition, if you need assistance, a friend of mine is one of the only importers/dealers for Riva boats in the US. I'd be glad to put you in toch with him. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Has anyone looked at those boats? There flagship 22S is a little hard on the eyes. Company history says nothing about background or time in the industry just where they would like to be in the future. Expendible cash, take the risk if you like fugly but not much history to warrant the investment. I did like the other 22's appearance but what do I know. They have a wake wing. I still would not know what to expect if it came in contact with something. i dont mean to offend you sir, i am confident that your bass boat looks superb parked in front of your trailer home. i am not looking to enhance my already high status. i am simply trying to avoid lowering it with a ridiculous boat parked on my dock.

to answer the other gentleman, my son has not expressed his needs other than wakeboarding. as for myself, i have my own fleet of vessels that suit my needs. unfortunatley they do not suit his or his friends. i would prefer something classy, not outrageously big and easy for a 14 y/o to handle.

Your status as a moron. I can't believe people sometimes. Heres what I think of your status. Get up tommorrow morning, eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, get dressed for a day full of status protecting and then..................GO PLAY IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. Oh and P.S. please buy a Natique you would fit in better with their kind.

champagne is best in the morning, especially at sunday brunch, all you can drink.

August 10 last summer. ~9AM. Tahoe...see the glass in my hand as I'm swimming back to the boat... ;)

This post bears all of the trademarks of the Toolman

I'm sure it's not Rod. This guy uses way more articles and pronouns. If it's someone from another forum, I am really thrown off because every sentence is complete, no mispellings, no slip of internet jargon and acronyms. I still call BS. Dr. please prove me wrong and post some pics of your fleet and your Session in March.

We should narrow down the search to those on the board with good grammar. But, I'm calling out a CC owner, or a highschool kid from wakeworld.com who just had a semester on writing. Capitalizing isn't until sophomore year aparently.

I'm not going by grammar, remember the toolman! No grammar tie to anything!

I'm going by development of the "character", pushy nature of the posts and each posts always talks about the next step. But yet there was often surprise posts in both. I be the next post will be brainy towing someone in! Maybe not, but my money is on Rod! Maybe I should say Brad just to drag him in!:D

Doug G
03-26-2007, 05:52 PM
Probably. They are atleast coming through the same ISP or connection. It is common on the net to share addresses as an address conservation technique. For example every puter at my office going through the corp firewall will have the same address on the net from your point of view. You can resolve the address down to get a better answer. try dnsstuff.com for some freeby resolution tools scroll down for ip resolution tools.

DrBrainey,

Could you be so kind as to grace us with the finer points of what constitutes a vessel worthy of maintaining neighborhood status? If we understood the parameters better we of course could provide input worthy of your evaluation. For instance what parameters are important, size, cost, amenities?

Now that you have found an enjoyment for watersports has your coach (I assume you have a private coach by now as most of us do) given you any guidance on what style or type of watercraft may be most appropriate?

And of course if you could have your assistant upload some pictures of the lake house and the rest of your fleet that would of course be the most helpful.

Warmest Regards

drbrainey

a vessel that will be worthy of my fleet shall be the best of the best. it should be classy , be a top performer and look good on my dock. even though i have only boarded a few times so far, like everything else i do, i should be great in a short amount of time. with that said , i want to make sure i don't purchase a vessel that i will have to replace after 1 month.

i don't have a picture with all my vessels since they are moored all over the world. the boat i will be purchasing for wakeboarding will be the only one, aside from my waverunner, i will keep at my lake house. i have attached a picture of my lake house that i took last summer.
