Hey all,
20 years for us April 4th. Thinking about the Riviera Maya and would like to know if anyone can recommend a resort there based on experience. It appears that many areas are in good shape despite Wilma.
Also, may take a look at Aruba.
I appreciate any input.
(no kids for this one) ;)

Congrats-Hopefully you still celebrate by worrying about the hotel room instead of the resort!

Congrats,
I would recomend any of the Riu palace resorts. First class all the way and the all-inclusive food isn't the standard "all-inclusive" buffet.
Good luck, they have hotels in both locations. Have fun!!

CONGRATS!!! Stay home, rent "9 1/2 Weeks", get some strawberries and chocolate syrup and a bottle of Boones Farm. That should do it.... :D

Aruba is great....despite the fact that the Alabama Governor says to not visit due to the whole Natalie Halloway thing.

Congrats on the 20 years! I was in Riviera Maya last April & stayed at a new place called "Secrets Excellence". It is an adults only resort & we had a great week there. The accomodations are beautiful & the hospitality is second to none. Plenty of activities & night life to choose from. It is definetly a place I would consider visiting again!

If you want more info let me know

I will second the Palace Resorts. We stayed at Moon Palace in Cancun, it was great. We visited a few other Palace resorts while we were there and they were all nice.

How does everything look down there?
I hear that the area of the Maya made it through the hurricane without major damage.

We have been there twice and you can't go wrong!!! Amazing place... nice walk to Playa del Carmen and the ferry to Cozumel... Great diving if you are a diver!

3 others that we know of have gone and love it!

Congrats on the big 2-0. We honemooned in Antigua and had a ball. But I'd recommend sticking to the private resorts about 95% of the time. It was good to venture out once, but raising your flag for a drink doesn't work as well in town.

Congratulations!!

Personally, I'd like Aruba, but then I'd also be pretty happy on the lake with the boat and some beverages!!

First off :woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS!
Second I can recomend a place NOT to go. Casa DE Campo in the Dominican Republic. Wife and I went 3 years ago for our tenth and unless you love to golf (very pricey) it gets boaring after one day! Just not enough to do and no nude beaches! But where ever you go, make sure to check the "all inclusive" packages and compaire prices. At 7 bucks a drink, well it adds up quick!

Congratulations Steve,
We celebrated 20 last year but ended up taking the kids to Italy with us, we wanted them to share the experience with us.
Aruba is a good choice IMO.

I guess I'll '3rd' (?) the Palace Resorts. We stayed at Xpu Ha Palace south of Playa. We also visited the other Palace resorts and I would echo the above comments. Great places. Very nice, great food.

Done! We are going to the Riviera Maya near Playa Del Carmen mid March and taking the kids.
Wouldn't be the same without them.
Thanks for all of your input!
