A good friend is looking for a nice Mastercraft Closed Bow ski boat for mid to high teens. I have a 99 CB SportStar which he likes. We ski the course on a small lake in Vermont, within our group of friends people ski 15-35 off at 32-36mph. What is the story with the 98-00 Prostar 190, does that hull really have handling and skiing issues? The resale value of them seems to suggest they it does.

Thanks in advance. Jamie

I talked to this guy last week. He's in Auburn AL. Looks like a nice machine indeed.

JamieThat's what I'm talking about with reference to shortline skiing...Just make sure the speeds are up there with the age group bracketing.... It's got to be right....:D :headbang:

If he likes your Sport Star he should really look at the 95-97 Prostars (same hull). Should be able to easily find a really nice boat in that price range.

I've heard rumblings of these years being the "DeathStar" hull...

I would steer clear.

Either a 95-97 ProStar hull, or spend the extra cash and go 2002+ ProStar.

Still a little sensetive to that topic?

I'm still regularly using my walk thru windshield for "dip" and "my exercise machine" hasn't failed yet!

I don't have any handling or performance issues with my 98 Anniversary. It's been a great boat. Now if I could just get my kids to keep the goldfish crackers out of the carpet. :o

Nothing worse than cheese crackers in a boat's carpet.

Yea, orange crackers in royal blue carpet = But when it is your kids, does it really matter? :o

I gotta go with "yes." :) While I may have to bend on my food rules, we'll have to find something other than cheese crackers to do it with.

I have definitely added Cheetos to the list of items not allowed on the boat!!

Beer has always been allowed on mine. Spilling beer, however, is not allowed.

So I guess Danica 'Minnie' from the Wonder Years thread would be allowed to drink what ever she wanted in your boat.

Wow, sorry for the thread-jack. Make one comment about goldfish in blue carpet and see what you get. Sorry, my bad.

My 98 is great, love it.

Midwest Mastercraft in Minneapolis has a black/white 2000 Sportstar Closed Bow with 310 Predator and 143 hours for $19,995. Shipping out East might be spendy-but it looks like a nice boat. My 1995 PS 190 LT-1 with 190 hours is also available for the right price :uglyhamme . I would even deliver it to you if he spent enough :D
