Guys,
I am on the cusp of buying a tower. I want it for board storage, to get rid of the wire holding the fly high pole up, and for looks. What other benefits does a tower have that I am missing. Thanks guys. Any encouragement will make it that much easier to drop the $2K plus accessories.
New dimensions have their towers 15% off until the end of the month.

I think you have the best benefit listed, it hold boards, skis, foils, etc. Also a better mount for a bimini, if you are teaching kids to ski you get a little better upward pull from having the rope up high. I suppose speakers, but I don't have any personally, nor want them. From what dealers have been telling me, better resale. Can't go wrong, pull the trigger.

Well is you look around this board you will then being used for speakers, chin-up bar, Girls have even been known to hang upside down with them. There great to have.

it will make it easier to sell your boat down the line...

I was surprised by how much it actually helps lift you off the wake-even over the extended pole. Plus, you can have people riding in the back all day not dodging the ski line as it cuts across the boat.

Another benefit is that when you cut outside hard with a tower, it does not make the boat lean as much.

Couple of positives for the tower vs extended pylon

Easier to use a barefoot/teaching boom with a tower. I always had to take down the extended pylon to use the barefoot boom.
Boards in the tower racks don't drip water on you like they do with the extended pylon rack.
Don't have to worry about the rope catching on board racks
I never liked having the extended pylon and racks stored on the floor of the boat with other gear while trailering
Gets more stuff out of the boat because you can hang more stuff on it like slalom skis, surfboards and multiple tow ropes.
Makes a much better mount for your VHF radio antenna.
Less boat roll and thus less wake washout on cuts
I prefer the tower mount mirror over my old windshield mounted mirror.
Depending upon the tower, the bimini setup and geometry can be more versatile with a tower

As well as the positives previously mentioned

What boat do you have? If its a closed bow I say don't do it. To me there is just something wrong with a closed bow and or older SKI boat with a tower.

i think the right tower looks good on a closed bow. makes the tower even more usefull on a closed bow to clear up floor space from the skiis and wakeboards.

Every once in a while I see one that looks OK. The orange and white boat above looks pretty good. As for storage the closed bow boats have more storage for boards skis etc than the same sized open bow say a 190 vs 197.

I think it is 2 ft. The mini tower is probably close to 6 feet off the floor and I think the normal tower is 8 ft off the floor.

i think it may be lower than 6ft since people complain about hitting there heads, unless everyone is 6ft.

rodltg2,

Your pictures show a binmini being used with the tower. Is that the original bimini?
