View Full Version : Skied behind a '01 X-9 vs. my '86 S&S

This last weekend was my first pull (slalom) behind my buddy's '01 X-9. I have to say... the bells and whistles that sucker has... WOW It was SWEET! Now for the wake size... Not so sweet :eek3:. He empted all of the balisters... He said he was pulling me at 40.... I think his speedos were off a little. I ususally ski 35MPH behind my '86. The wake was ALOT bigger than on my boat. I wrote if off knowing that the X-9 is more of a wakeboard boat. Also, it doesn't turn (power turn) like the old S&S does. Guess I'm Old Scool.

Think the wake is big when your are on a ski? Try doing a deepwater barefoot start behind one of those bad boys :eek3:
I did stepoff a slalom ski behind a friend of a friend's 27 foot Baja and thought the wake behind that was smaller than those behind some of the new wakeboard boats. Some of those wakes are so big that when doing any type of wakecrossings, you almost feel like you are climbing a mountain.

The 86 190 is probably one of the best wakes I've skied behind, nuttin' but bubbles and foam.

Sizzler, Do you any of the ballisters filled? Looking to see what makes the best ski wake with 3-4 people on board, in that boat. I like the way you say "plow right through it".... There is NOTHING to plow on an old '86 S&S.
Mitch, I thought so... thanks for the confirmation.

tom......no way...they are drained; its tough going over them with a ladder when they are both full.....but towards the end of my run..the driver fills them both up,,and i attempt to "summie" over the wake....never made it once...but gives every one a laugh...

Thanks Sizzler. I'll ensure all ballisters are EMPTY the next time I go out for a pull. :D
