I just sent in my form to get my gas taxes for the boat reimbersed. I pumped about 175 gallons between March and November 2005. Sounds like a lot, but I'll bet someone out there can top me. Anybody else keep track of how much gas you bought?

We don't get reimbursed for gas tax here in good ol' Tennessee.
Bummer

Wow, that's sweet Doug. Although I can't complain I'm a Florida resident and we don't pay a State Income Tax.

Thats only about 6 tanks of gas for you isn't it? How many hours did you put on this season 35(I'm figuring about 5 gallons per hour here)? I don't keep track because we can't write off the gas tax here but I would have to say I did about twice that and I rotate boats with two other guys.

You're a rock star. :headbang: You had to of put well over 200 hours on the boat. That is what I call getting your ski, board, float on.

I didn't keep track, but 175 gal doesn't sound out of line. That is only 6 tanks full. How many hours was that? ...about 60? What do you do that you can write off your gas for the boat is the real question? That would be a good reason to get out and burn some gas!! :headbang:

Here in Texas we can file with the Comptrollers office to get off hwy. gas taxes refunded.

Doug, Thanks for the reminder. I did not keep reciepts in 2005, but thought about that as I filled up the boat new years day. I put about 60 hours on it in 2005 and burn a guestimated 7-8 per hour. With that math, I burned somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 gallons.

About 150 gallons for me, but I had almost a tank left over at the end of the year that I transfered into the truck.

In Pa. they ask on the annual registration and then transfer the funds from PennDot to the Fish and Boat Commission to fund the boat cops.
Since I dont get the tax money back, I always underestimete because I would rather have good roads instead of more boat cops.

Don't get gas taxes back on boat here but a good guess is between 500 and 600 gal.

:steering: I burned about 200 gallons in a 6 day period this summer when we went to Lake Gaston. I put 33 hours on the engine in 6 days. :headbang:

I Bought 225 gallons from March to December

BrianM, if memory serves, I did closer to 50 or 60 hours this year. Like you, I'm dividing time between two boats. That figure only includes the gas I purchased. So a few gallons not accounted for in my total were paid for by someone else.

Probably should have called the thread "How Many Gallons did you Buy."

I bought $500 at average of $2.8/gal or 179 gallons.

I couldnít say how much gas I put in. I kind of donít want to know. I think I put a hundred/ish hrs on give or take and making a conscious effort not to do the math, so no help please..

I put on 119 hours last year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31). If I am skiing I get 8 hours to a tank, cruising or boarding about 5.5, so doing the math I burned about 550 gallons of gas last year.

Eastie, thanks for giving us this link. I can't deduct for it here in Minnesota, but do have some friends in other states. I've never heard about this. One of our local talk radio hosts uses a great tag line that is appropriate here: "You'll learn more here by accident than elsewhere by design" :D

This will be my second year to seek reimbursement. Last year, I described it as a free tank of gas. This year, it amounts to 2/3 of a tank tops.
