Open my mailbox and got the boat buyers guide and also didn't want to see this but my gas bill $320 that stinks. Plenty of new material to read.

sweet , tired of thumbin through the old one on the throne.

Yeah, I got mine yesterday. This year is much better than last years.

01-05-2006, 05:06 PM
Much better how? Because they actually did an honest review as opposed to displaying boats by their favorite advertisers?

01-05-2006, 05:18 PM
Their is a misprint on one of the mc it says mcx 310hp who does the proof reading. i am sure there is more but overall good buyers guide

Do you really think it was that good........... I think you need someone like a "Consumer Reports" or the like to do an honest review. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that MC would come out on top, but if you read through the various reviews, you'll see that they repeat the same words about different boats. An example: in the "Handling section of the MC PS197 review, they state that it "tracks like it's on a rail", which it does, but take a look at the Gekko GTR22 handling review...yep, it says the same thing. My point, who out there thinks for a second that a Gekko tracks as well as an MC PS197.
If you are going to review the boats, at least be honest and tell us which one is better in various categories as compared to their direct competitor... now that is a review.

Rats! I had my hopes up.....but when I opened the mailbox I only found bills, tax forms and junk mail.

Well, mine hasn't arrived yet. And my subscription this year was my stocking stuffer.

I got mine the other day as well.

As I was thumbing thru it, I noticed that Rob Shirley (X-MC and Infinity guy) has joined the Svfara team. More interesting is the top deck design of the Svfara SVONE. To me, it is a cross between the 2000 PS190 and the Infinity X1.

Also, I was not all cracked up about the pictures. I want to see boats in the water or on the trailer. Not cut aways and pasted on a white background. It just looks cheap and thrown together.

01-06-2006, 02:45 AM
Man, those Svfara interiors are unreal. I thought cowprint went out with Gateway years ago!

01-06-2006, 07:41 AM
Yep, mine showed up yesterday as well.

Yep, mine showed up yesterday as well.
Mine too, helps the long winter evenings pass a little easier.

Boat shows and the buyers guide are the first sign of spring. Come on spring and late winter rain for TX, we need it BAD.

01-06-2006, 10:06 AM
If we don't start getting rain soon there may not be much skiing around here this year... Where was Magfest last year?

01-06-2006, 11:31 PM
tried to buy the issue tonight, went to walgreens, a grocery store, borders books, target and another grocery store and last a sporting goods. no luck. and these are all stores on the main road to a lake.

do you have a local west marine?

01-07-2006, 10:55 AM
I got my copy yesterday. I’m fixin to sit down and read it now…

01-07-2006, 10:58 AM
Got mine yesterday, I am impress they listed the msrp for most of the boats, it usually says "contact your local dealer"

01-07-2006, 11:03 AM
I thought that was cool too. But that/those MSRPs didn’t seem too realistic. I realize it is the “Base Boat” MSRP..

01-07-2006, 12:09 PM
Got the Star yesterday as well, I have a well stocked reading romm now.

01-07-2006, 03:09 PM
Got mine in the mail today. This buyers guide is much improved over last year but still has a way to go. Listing MSRP is nice....I wish they would also list price as tested.

Also, like the plots and pictures of wakes but would agree that trailer and in water pictures would help as well.

Biggest dislike is there is no evaluation of barefoot capability and wakes.

I agree, looks like us footers are a dying bread.

I want to know how the He## a Moomba made the front cover!!!  Who slept with who for that spot?? Moomba isn't even one of their big advertisers!!

01-09-2006, 09:17 AM
They state they used many different covers for the mag. Mine has a MB Sports on the cover.

01-09-2006, 09:21 AM
I've actually got 2 copies (couldn't wait for the one to arrive in the mail) and I have 2 different cover boats. Everythng else is the same, they must just be trying to keep all advertisers happy.

01-09-2006, 01:09 PM
There were six covers in total.....I think they show all of them in the index or preceeding pages.
