Thanks! I'm excited how this one turned out. Since the last photo, it is also going to have a teak platform, silver MasterCraft graphics, black bimini, black cover, and a black low-profile Boatmate trailer with black KMC XD wheels like my last trailer.

Any reason you went with the boatmate trailer over the MC? Just curious

Beautiful boat, that color scheme is unreal.

Saw the color scheme this past weekend and its beautiful. That's a lot of black to keep clean.

The water was 50 degrees and the wake/wave size was massive

Great looking boat! Out of curiosity, why did you switch from the X10 to the X20?

Mastercraftdave
01-29-2015, 09:31 AM
If I had to guess probably because the surf wave on the X20/23 is out of this world an dthe wakeboard wake is great as well. Riding this boat is a night and day difference.

Thanks for the comments! I went with the X20 because after test driving it (and the X23), both the X20 and X23 surf and wakeboard better than my X10. I went with the X20 because I prefer the smaller boat, at least for now, could always end up in a X23 down the road. I've had Boatmate trailers on my last three boats and think they are very well made, have never had any problems with them, and personally like the tongue on the Boatmate more than the MC trailer.

Looking good Mortey!
Love the color combo.
?-since you have had a few boats already, how do you deal with the Black in direct sun.
Our X-30 had some Black surfaces ... If you bumped in to them... It would burn you.

Looking forward to the finish photos, congrats!!

Are the surf wakes on the X20/23 really that much better than an X10/X30?
Haven't been on in a while (winter hibernation) so was curious.

Your surf wave is pretty damn good! If you go to upgrade let me know! I would be interested in your 30

Thanks Corbin, that was just with you and I in the boat! I've still got some video I need to send you of you riding.

My wake is a result of a lot of modifying and tweaking so I'm curious if these boats are actually that much better, enough to justify the premium for someone like myself.

I may go for a record and keep this boat for 2 seasons, I kind of like it...:)

Your set up was fantastic! I've not been on a x20 or x23. Your wave is all I would ever need.

Wanted to follow-up on my build pics from earlier this year. I picked up my boat at TXMC last week and took it out last weekend. I've only put about 5 hours on it, but this is my favorite boat so far. The surf wake is effortless (if not too big, had to ride my back foot a lot) and the size of the boat is perfect for what I do. I haven't wakeboarder behind it yet, but the wakeboard wake looks great. Hope to wakeboard tomorrow so will let everyone know how it is. If you're looking at a X23 and it's just a little too big for what you do, be sure to check out the X20. It's an awesome boat!

And sorry for just having iPhone pics. Will try to get better quality ones soon.

Here are some in-water pics. The surf pics are on a shallow private lake (about 7') so the surf wake gets bigger on deeper water. The wakeboard wake is on the Wakeboard preset with some of the rear water drained. The Wakeboard Pro setting keeps all the weight and is slightly bigger.

Those surf wave pics are just factory ballast. I haven't added any extra and don't think I have any reason to! The Gen2 is 2000 lbs of ballast, all in hard tanks under the floor. Unlike my X10 that used bags and filled up the rear compartments, the X20 leaves the rear compartments open for gear, which I love.

I got the opportunity to ride moretys boat last weekend and it's one heck of a nice fun wake to surf right out of the box. Push a button and go.

Water was a little rough today to wakeboard, but the wake on Wakeboard Pro at 22.0 mph looked really good from the boat. The Wakeboard Pro is center tank 100% and the two rear tanks 75% each. I think with some playing around and refining the wakeboard wake will be great. And here is a pic of the surf wake on Surf Left Mellow. I prefer the Mellow settings versus the Steep settings, as the Steep is really steep!

I think the 6.0 in the X20 is plenty. I'm sure people will love the 6.2 and even the 7.4 in the X20 because overbuying a motor isn't a thing with MCs but the 6.0 is great. Full ballast it gets to wakeboard speed no problem with 8 people in the boat.
