You must be cooking something special for friends and family getting up that early! I hope you don't have to stand out in any cold or snow too long. Here in NE Wisconsin it's a slushy mix so far.
Happy New Year!

It's going to be pulled pork. 7# pork butt on the smoker. Just checked it, looking awful tasty! Should be done around 6pm tonight!

Nope, traditional type smoker. It's gas powered. Using Hickory wood. Pork got cleaned up last night and put my rub on it. Just added a bunch more Hickory, this thing outta be good!

Good New Years Eve day to all. JR, is that the stand up gas powered that looks like a small gun safe? Got a pic? Looking to ad a smoker to my arsenal and saw one at Bass Pro that was a stand up gas powered and a decent size. I know I don't want the small charcoal dome top as I hear they are to much work.

Yep it's similar to that. I think mine came from Lowes (Christmas present) I gotta say I am really impressed with this little guy. It's holding 200 degrees and I haven't had to tinker with it a bit. I go out and add some more Hickory every couple of hours and thats it! I really wanted one of these for quite some time and am glad it was my Christmas present (my wife rocks!! ) My uncle has a Green egg and cooks on it every week, he says it's kind of therapeutic for him. Now I see what he means, I could get use to this.

I'll post some pics later today.

Happy New Year all!!

This ones for you Mark

My wife found this smoker at Lowes, they had a showroom model at my Lowes today, perhaps that will help with your building plans

Also try this site for building info:

14 hours of smokin at 200 degrees. It's not burnt at all, thats "barK" and it had a nice layer of bark. The smoke ring was nearly an inch deep! I smoked this with Hickory. Ate leftovers today, it is DIVINE!!!

I know, from the pic it looks a little scary. It's funny when I dowloaded these pics off my camera my wife said "that's what we ate?"

Even the outside bark was incredibly soft and tender. It's all in cooking it low and slow.
