Just came across this pic and thought it was funny. Anybody know what it is?

It is either Jaws or a "drone" used to simulate a skier behind the boat.

Deep water barefoot start, just breaking the water?

Looks like the way one of my hydrofoil aerials feels.

We have a winner! Yes, there is a body behind that wall of water. For some reason, probably my poor instuctions, he had his arms bent with the handle pulled to his chest in a deathgrip. I didn't realize the stress he was putting on the tower until he let go. I really don't want to hear that sound again! Surprised the rope didn't break first! We all survived and he never got up. He did pay for it as he couldn't comb his hair or brush his teeth for a couple of days. :)

Everytime I see a picture of the wake behind a wakeboard boat I am amazed. Look at that tidalwave.

That is pretty common when you have big strong boarders or foilers riding aggressive. Their trying to land a new trick & don't want to let go. I know of an extended pylon & an aftermarket tower being ripped completely out of the boat. The tower was done at the Worlds a few years ago & the guy was trying to land a double front flip on a Sky Ski......... and he might have had it if the tower had held up! :headbang:

I was going to say tube submarine. Couldn't the driver have just pulled back when he (or she) realised what was happening? Or was it too late by then?

Tube submarine is a good guess. We have had a lot of those but usually they don't create that much wake but DO create a ton of force. You would think a good driver would have noticed what was going on and eased off. I, however, was driving, and was curious to see how long he would hang on. This is probably 20 feet into the drama and he, the guy being pulled, has his own good sized wake! He will probably never wakeboard again.
