Ok, I know a number of you are great cooks and I am looking for some ideas. We are having Xmas day dinner for about 14 people. I have ordered a standing rib roast as the main entre'.
1 - do you think 11-12 lbs is sufficient ?
2 - do any of you have some good ways to cook this roast ?
3 - what side dishes would you recommend ?
4 - should it be sliced thin or thick to serve ?

We're having the same thing, but only for the two of us. I'd say slice it as thick as 14 servings would allow. For side dish, garlic mashed potatoes. And lots of red wine. :friday:

Wine is a given especially when you have relatives to deal with.
I was planning to make a sauce with the drippings and some red wine also.
